Default getting in trouble at work

I got reprimanded at work today for telling a coworker they did something wrong, they claimed it was their supervisor that tolld them to do it, so i said then its their supervisors fault...and so my supervisor told me that insulting people above me is bad...so i wasnt very happy after that...i was right in what i said beccause he lost the customer a lot of money and time, and he has only been a supervisor for 4 days, and only been working there 3 weeks more then me. So i was like if i have an angry customer and its not my fault, then im gonna tell the person's whose fault it is that they messed up, so that it doesnt happen again.

It took me awhile to answer this post because i don't want to come off insulting but,
actually DA, your supervisor is right. how did your supervisor find out about it?

I would just worry about my own work and leave other co-workers mistakes for the supervisors to deal with. i wouldn't say a thing because it really wouldn't be my place to do so.

You really do have to be careful with things like this in the workplace.

The more appropriate approach would have been to go to your supervisor and inform him/her of the situation. Let him deal with it in whatever manner he or she feels is correct. I am sure you meant well. Welcome to the working world, DA.

Default Re:

my supervisor found out when the person told their supervisor. I cant just not say anything because the last person to talk with teh customer is responsible, all people that call in recieve a survey about their opinion of the help, and if its negative it is really bad, but because i was the last one to talk to them, it goes against me, regardless of if it was my fault. Not to mention that in this case we lost the customers data so they could end up suing us. And if i didnt say anything then it wouldnt of been found out, because not all of our calls are monitored. I was told that i should just report mistakes to my supervisor and let them handle it, which is fine with me. I was trying to help the guy yout, if he correctd his notes he wouldnt get in trouble, but if i told my supervisor first he would, so now i know that i should just be a snitch and not tell the people to correct mistakes b4 they get in trouble. Well more then likely ill still help out people that i know wont go complain about it, but this guy, he had better hope that he doesnt make mistakes and have his customer talk to me, cause ill go to my supervisor and get him in trouble. I am a top 5 tech at the site right now, so all the mangers and most of the supervisors recognize that i know what im doing and will listen to me, so the reverse happening where i make a mistake is unlikely.

Its called looking out for number 1. Sad that you have to do that, but it is necessary sometimes.
