Can Your Boss Be Your Friend?
What do you think? Did/do you have a Boss for a friend? If so, can you distinguish the difference between work respect for your boss and friendship?

I don't know about this one. I think it is possible but it would definitely take a couple special people for things to stay separate.

Definitely possible. Of course, if you work in say the car industry it is not likely though.

My boss is my friend. It makes it convenient when I need days off and such. We work our schedules so every one gets their hours, but is still happy with the situation. Plus we hang out after work. It's awesome.

As long as everyone keeps it professional and realizes that we all have our jobs to do then I think it is possible. It is when you take things personally that the trouble starts.

Only in a very small company. I could see it happening in e.g. a very small carpenter bussiness, where quality stands above quantity. Other then that most bosses have profit maximalization as a goal, where employees are just a means to that goal. Not something to build a friendship upon.

i slept with one, to keep him happy, we were friends for ages and then when i told him the "sex buddy" thing was over, he dropped me like a stone. luckily id left the job then too, so i didnt get hell for it. but i probably would of.
i was friends with my old manager in the supermarket i work in, but he got promoted to a bigger store and my current manager is a *****
