background checks
For my new job i had to do a background checck and today i recieved a messge from the companyn and the person hiring me saying that my school told them that they cant confirm my degree. So i have to talk to my school and call these people back to straighten it out, but it makes me look like a fraud. If i end up having the offer recinded because of this, i will sue my school for lost wages and future wages and benefits that i wont recieve. I am very frustrated.

i need to get a criminal record check because of the kids living here...i've never been arrested or charged or anything, but i heard rumors of the rcmp having a file on me and one other person while i was living in banff. don't know if it's true or not and i dont know if that would show up, but it's got me kind of worried.

Ya you should be alright man. My brother has a record, did some time and had to get a criminal check done to get his current job. He explained that he was 19 at the time and did some stupid things, they just shrugged and said "everybody makes mistakes".

I know I should be alright, but there is still the "what if" factor. No one in my family knows what I did and I really don't want them to find out. That and I don't want to screw things up for the kids.

try to not worry about the what if, though it is hard, im trying not to now, the job im getting doesnt require a degree so i should be fine regardless, but it could be bad, im just trying to not think about it beyond what i have to do to fix it, and in your case, there is nothing you can do, so try to not worryabout it.

Why can't they confirm your degree? Is their network not working properly or something?
Companies in France do make a usual check on their employees, but I don't know how far they push it.
I've heard cases of companies demanding your grades since highschool, LOL. that's just hilarious! "Miss, you had a C in Phisics, sorry, we cannot hire you!"
HAng in there, DA, you'll be fine!

The fact is, unless you are charged or convicted of a crime, it's not going to show anything.

DA, that happened to a guy I know only it's his high school transcripts. they lost them so according to the school board, he has no diploma or any credits. I'd be so mad if that happened to me!!
I would sue them too if they screwed up like that. do you have anything to prove that you've got your degree? like grades on paper or something? I'd be gathering everything I have, all work done included, and shoving that in their faces. unbelievable huh?
how in the world can people be so stupid!! i'd be fuming!
I hope this sorts out soon DA. you've worked hard for that degree. you've earned it.
