Default Countdown to Retirement

I didn't know where to put this thread, but since SO many exciting and inspirational happenings have come about, I decided to put it here.

Four days to go before I Retire and join my husband in his Retirement of two months ago.

I was going to give my Retirement Notice to the Incredibly Wonderful Company I work for this Summer; but I awoke on the 8th and just knew it was going to be the day! It felt SO right, SUCH Peace came over me and stayed. So to make sure I didn't have a single reservation, I had a 2km. walk to catch the bus to Work, and decided if any thoughts about my decision would appear, it would be then. However, the more I walked, the more Peace I felt, and I knew.

With the economic downturn, our Company is suffering as well, and with the Machine I was running at a real slow time, I decided in fairness, this would be the time to leave. There are others there that have run my
magnificent machine, so it is the right time. I will miss my Machine, I named her and I loved her, and treated her with respect and she ran like a dream for me most of the time.

So, since then, I have been somewhat of a dishrag and an emotional wreck. I have chosen to mention to each person there that has touched my life in some way, to have a moment with one-on-one to tell them so. There are SO many people there that have shared laughs, tears, joy, sorrow, etc. with me and it's been a Real Gift for me, for these people to have given me a piece of their heart, and I made sure they have a piece of mine. How fortunate am I to take with me such Amazing Gifts, especially if we move as my husband and I think we will, and may never see most of these people again.

However, on the exciting note, the Northern Part of British Columbia is opening up to us. Since both of us are not of the true Retirement age, we will be living on our Savings and Pure faith; Simplicity and Peace is my goal. We are going to collect a small pension until the real pension starts If I EVER decide to go back to work again, it will ONLY be for Santa Claus at the North Pole since I humbly think I have the personality to be a Great Elf and toymaker. With my red hair, I think the green hat will look marvelous; and those curled up green shoes.

So, I just wanted to share with my dear Lifesupporter family how joyous I feel! My husband and I have paid our dues in the Work World, him even longer than me, and this is the time to 'Live, Love, and Be Merry!' I don't want to come to the end of my life and realize that I had not really lived.

Well congratulations Luba. You never mentioned this before or at least that it was so close. I hope you find all the fulfillment you are looking for in your retirement. I guess we will see more of you here too. Again, congrats and hugs to you.

Thank you very much, TKDLady! I don't know if you'll see more of me here as if we move, we may give up the Internet; giving up our luxuries for the simple life.

Give up luxuries for the simple life?? One word: Dwoing. That will beat the sh!t out of notions of a simple life.

(telephones, and whatever else gizmo's you use to keep in touch with friends and family)

Congratulations to you, Luba. I hope your retirement will be blessed with wonderful tranquility.

You will be missed here, but I will be happy knowing you're having the time of your life.

I thought you weren't old enough to retire?

Not for the real age of 65 in Canada, but there is Early Retirement and that can happen anytime! Some retire as early as 50 -55; some even earlier than that. I know I'm only 32, but what the heck?

Seriously though, it is the right time for me and there are SO many things I want to do in life yet.

3 Days to go and I don't know if I'll make it! Extremely emotional and long day today! I'm exhausted.

Do we need to cheer you on?

Well last days are always the hardest. And then it is over .

Just try to think of the things you are going to do first .

Thanks, Vautrin, MUCH appreciated; if you only knew how much your words mean to me! I'm SO emotional from hugs and kind words from my co-workers! I don't know how I'll make it through the next three days without falling apart.

Yes, I already have some set plans, but not much for this weekend. I think I'll just try pulling myself together, and go over memories of One of the BEST places I've ever worked.

This is IT! The BIG Day of total raw and tear-filled emotion! I am excited and torn, too! How fortunate am I to have worked for such an Incredible Company and met and been touched by SO many people!

The Wonderful Company is making a special Lunch for everyone in honour of two of us Retiring today! My dear friend will make a Speech.

I'm going to come home and have a stiff drink of vodka; I'm going to need it!!!!!
