How true that is Luba.
Children are our future, raise them with flowers not guns.

Absolutely true, Chris!
I am a Dr. Phil fan, and sometimes if I see the preview for the coming show, I tape it because I work full-time.
I taped a show last week where a 'raging mom' hit her beautiful ten-year-old boy over the head, kicked him, choked him, and called him every vile name she could think of. This was all on film. The part of the beating that wasn't on film took place in the boy's bedroom and all you could hear was "Please don't Mommy, please" and 'ow' so many times. The father was also on the show and said he thought they were a team and said he didn't know all that was going on. He admitted to kicking the boy with the side of his boot, as well as hitting the children on the bum with a stick he got from his friend. When Dr. Phil interviewed the two children, they were scared to death of THE STICK so that tells me they were beat with it a LOT more than the Dad let on...
I couldn't get the show out of my mind, so I went to the Dr. Phil website and there were at least six pages of people that posted about the abuse or the abuse that was incurred to them in their home when they were growing up...
It is horrifying to me how one can call a child names or that parents say they hate their own kids or the vile abuse they put on these priceless, innocent children...makes me cry just posting about this...
Of course, Dr. Phil had to report this to Child Services and was getting immediate help for the whole family. He also told the woman that because she was brave enough to let the cameras witness her in the worst possible way, that she may have helped people see themselves in her and do something about it!

I was wrong, there are so many, many more pages and posts on this show than I first thought...I checked and the last page number was 447! Unbelievable!

Level with your child by being honest. Nobody spots a phony quicker than a child.
Mary MacCracken
Children need love, especially when they do not deserve it.
Harold Hulbert
Feelings of worth can flourish only in an atmosphere where individual differences are appreciated, mistakes are tolerated, communication is open, and rules are flexible --the kind of atmosphere that is found in a nurturing family.

It is better to bind your children to you by a feeling of respect and by gentleness, than by fear.

how disturbing it was to read these threads, and sad.If people could just see what a precious gift they have in a child. We can all get frustrated ,tired and let down by our children, but our love for them seems to pull us all though.I know the pain to lose a child ,a beautiful young man at 18 and at the time i had a19 year old 13,14 & 15 year old ,i wondered how we would survive, and for i time i didn,t really want to but i had 4 other teenages ang a husband that needed me,even before he died i cherished every day i had with him ,and feel i am lucky to have at least had 18 years,i was the tooth fairy ,saw him of to school ,watched as he won his grandfinal, not to mention every school concert ,i am so thankful i have all these special memmories to treasure. These parents do not understand ,just what the future may hold and it could be to late,So today tell the people in your family that they are special it can make all the difference in your life

Makes me think of what Jesus told his deciples when he held that child, when they were arguing over who would be the greatest in heaven. I'm bad with quotes so forgive me if i get it wrong :P I think it was something like "he who does unto a little child has done the same unto me and it would be better for him in that day to tie a millstone around his neck and to jump into a river" I think everyone can agree, that is a VERY strong statement ...especially coming form the son of God!!
When i thought of what he meant by this statement it scares me to think of what would happen to a person when they would deliberately harm the most innocent of us all, a child. I absolutely hate people who are cruel to children, prolly the reason why i dislike Michael Jackson so much.
I just love to see the wonderment and love on a childs face when they are young, to see those smiles and hear those laughs. It's so refreshing compared to what i have to see on a daily basis. Too bad they have to grow up and become like us :P I love children very much, if i ever see an adult doing something like that to a child i can't tell you what i'm going do to that person but it would certainly involve a few years in jail for me and a trip to the cemetery for him/her. I don't even like it when adults tease children in a mean spirited way and i'm the type of person that will say something about it.
In my opinion children are the better part of the humanity we lose as we get older, and that's a shame. I think it's very important we help them keep their innocence and faith in us as they get older. They look to us to be their protection and moral guidance in this world and we often fail them utterly, only creating another Jeffery Dahmer or John Wayne Gacey.
