Default What would you do in this scenario?

You go out with a friend or acquaintance for supper, your friend has a cold and isn't feeling well. You order your meals...your friend orders spinach salad and a hamburger with fries on which he/she puts on ketchup. As you are eating, your friend blows his/her nose but doesn't get all the nose stuff (you know what I'm talking about) cleaned up and some of it is hanging from the nose.....or she/he goes to smile and there is spinach stuck in the front teeth....or as he/she bites into the fries and gets ketchup on the chin that you are looking at and he/she doesn't know it's there.

Would you just sit there and pretend you don't see anything and just carry on the conversation....or do you tell your friend right away?

Why do people act so embarrassed when confronted with this anyway?

I'm really interested in what you all have to say!

I would definitely tell them of the situation. I will admit to not being very good if I don't know someone well but if I am at dinner with a friend I would tell them right away.

If it's a friend, I say something, if it's not a friend I'd rather let them continue to look stupid.

I was going to add that to my post above and realized the answer is yes, I have been in situations where I've been out to dinner with people I don't like.

I realized after I wrote it that I have also been in that situation. Usually however I am not with them by myself so I expect someone else to tell them.

Depends on the person for me as well. In general I am the last to make remarks about etiquette and / or appearance - but I certainly would not with a friend or relative.
