Re: Should cell phones be banned while driving?
I am all for a nearly complete ban - with the exception of emergency services, doctors etc. I would not be surprised if these devices caused more deaths than alcohol these days. It may seem otherwise, but that is simply because it is not standard procedure to actually check whether cell phone abuse was involved - unlike alcohol.

vaultrin,
I'm with you on this. Tell you the truth I rather live somewhere that has a very good public transportation then relying myself or others to drive me around. I'm capable of having it, but got to the point in do I really need it if I will driving only on local roads then majors ones.
Thank you.

Re: Should cell phones be banned while driving?
If they are going to ban cell phones, what about people who read while driving, or put on their makup, or put in their contact lenses. There are numerous things that cause car accidents. I am not against the ban, just think there are other reasons as well for accidents.

Re: Should cell phones be banned while driving?
I know Myth Busters did an episode on the dangers of talking on a cell phone while driving compared to driving under the influence of alcohol. If I'm not mistaken, you were just as likely to get in an accident under the influence as you were talking on a cell.
I think talking on a Hands Free is OK but anything else should be outlawed on the roads.

Slowly but surely research is coming out as well, that suggests Hands Free is not that much safer.
And I would not mind if the police fined people for putting make-up on, shaving, reading the newspaper in traffic. Unless of course the traffic is completely jammed, and traveling at a pace of 0 mph.

I never knew this so thanks for the info. I assumed it would be the same as talking to a passenger or to yourself in the car. I'll tell you though, if they ever outlaw talking to yourself in the car then I'll be stuck on the bus until rapture.

Re: Should cell phones be banned while driving?
I hate talking on my cell when I am in the car. Mostly because I drive a standard and it is a pain in the arse to steer, shift, hold my drink (no cupholders....wtf) and talk on the cell. I need more arms lol. So, I just don't do it.
