Default Polygamy/Plural Families

I watched an episode of "Oprah" and one aspect of the show had a husband who had three wives, two of whom were sisters. They were not dressed in drab outfits as one would expect, but one would never even suspect they lived in a plural family, they are everyday people who choose that lifestyle. There is no abuse reported, beautiful homes, and the women are best friends, too. They take their many children to Sports and games just like everyone else. They seem so in harmony! One woman from another plural family came on "Oprah" to say that since there were so many accepted lifestyles in the U.S. that their's should not be considered illegal.

If it is a consenting way to live for these women, would you say it still should be illegal?
Do you think the children would suffer as they grew up?
Have you heard any positive things about Polygamy?
Do you think the man 'has it all' in this way of living?

No comment really. I don't know anything about the long term affects on the children of plural families. If the parents are loving then I guess it shouldn't matter. I couldn't do it.

The ladies that were interviewed seemed to honestly not mind that they had to share their husband, even though Oprah asked a lot of questions about it. I couldn't share, either!

I guess if it everyone is truly happy then it can't be a bad thing. I find it hard to believe though that a couple of women don't mind sharing a man and/or vice versa; at some point, someone is going to feel as if their not getting the attention they deserve.

If it works for them, why not? I doubt there are many negative effects on the children. Happiness of the care-takers is one of the most important aspects on the development of a child.
