Re: Miley Cyrus Photo; Apology to Her Fans
I've been sort of following this, just out of shock more than anything. Not shock at the photos but shock at the fact people are supposadly shocked by seeing the naked back of a girl. Go to a beach anywhere in the world and you'll see people with less dignity. Why are poeple so afraid by parts of the human body i don't understand. its not like the Janet Jackson incident, even then she just showed a breast. Its not like half the people in the world don't have them.

Good point! I guess my point is that she is so fresh and such a good role model; maybe it's wondered that what happened with Britney and Lindsay is starting to happen with Miley!

I agree.
Much ado about nothing. Everyone piling on, not because of what Miley Cyrus has done, which is VERY VERY mild behaviour for a 15 yo girl (let's face it, she doesn't hold a candle to Spears' or Hilton's behaviour) but because she is a product of The Disney Channel.
In contrast, lets just take a peek into what the Spring '08 Issue of Teen Magazine is offering, shall we?

So, I'm supposed to be shocked that Boy Crazy Teenage Girls are Tarting Themselves UP and exchanging advise about how to be more attractive...... and Miley reveals he bare back.
Frankly, I'm more surprised that it hadn't already happened.

Re: Miley Cyrus Photo; Apology to Her Fans
I think the media is just looking for things to make a stink about. I thought the picture was very tasteful. She is pretty. She wasn't in Hustler or anything. Too many people have nothing better to do then gossip.

Re: Miley Cyrus Photo; Apology to Her Fans
Can't see what the problem is. She doesn't have an overtly seductive pose or facial expression. If people think it's shameful to see a bare 15 year old back, says more about them or the moral climate. Poor kid. But I think you're right Luba - to get that kind of flack it must have been a mistake. Annie is known for controversial shots and they are skilled in reading public reaction. I think she was exploited.

EXPLOITED.
Hmmmmm....I hadn't thought of this, but if her parents were there at the shoot, were they "expoilted" too?

Re: Miley Cyrus Photo; Apology to Her Fans
Agreed re prudes
Her parents? Who knows? Maybe they thought they would get a fast buck, or any publicity was good publicity. Given how she's reacted since, they probably just thought the photo was OK (it is!) and trusted the magazine.
It must be weird growing up with such competing pressures to be grown up before your time AND to stay a little girl forever.

Re: Miley Cyrus Photo; Apology to Her Fans
Well, there's no pressure now, but despite having lots of responsibilities I still don't feel grown up. People sometimes comment that I have something of the little girl about me Just remembered, you did a quiz and came out half your age too!
I guess the pressure points are different. Teenage girls seem to have such rigid, contradictory expectations of them. But boys seem more vulnerable (eg higher suicide rates)

Agreed.
All you have to do is listen to Miley as well; she has stated that the picture was meant to be artsy not pornographic, sheeeeze. I think some parents are more pissed off at the fact that they'll now have to spend a few more moments with their kids because their afraid that the TV isn't babysitting as cleanly as they previously thought.
