Mattress Surfing
Allright, it's obviously been around for awhile, but I've never heard of it until the story of two brothers mattress surfing, and one brother killed the other by driving over him. The driver was doing a donut, the mattress slid under the truck and the driver couldn't see...
How heartbreaking to have to live with that tragedy!
Also, four boys who are doing mattress surfing in a field with the blessing of their parents; saying they are raising careful children who aren't doing drugs or alcohol, and do wear helmets.
Check out Dr. Phil's website for the whole story...
What do you think of Mattress Surfing? Would you be for or against it if you knew your child was doing it?

Re: Mattress Surfing
I didn't go to the site but then I don't have to. I would be against it. How stupid and how ignorant of their parents.

Re: Mattress Surfing
I'm against my child doing anything life endangering, including mattres surfing, whatever it is. I'll explain my child there are better ways to spend your time on a mattres anyway, and how to do it safely offcourse...

LOVE that! How old will the child be before the explanation?

Re: Mattress Surfing
I hope to beat school, who will prob inform him/her in-depth around the age of 12. Ofcourse I'll be giving less in depth answers when asked about it at earlier ages.
I guess it's a step by step lesson spread out over many years in the end.

NoTargeT, have I mentioned before what a GREAT Dad you are?? I find there are several GREAT Dads here on Lifesupporters...it is SO wonderful to hear!!
In my generation, the Dads went out to Work and the Moms seemed to be the Sole 'hugs, kisses, and talks' provider; it's WONDERFUL to hear the Dads being so loving with their children SO openly! You men on here with children are an inspiration and I applaud you!

Re: Mattress Surfing
I actually thought mattress surfing sounded like fun but I thought it was done more behind Skidoos, not behind a vehicle. It's like anything that's adrenaline junkie related, there's always a risk associated with it.

Re: Mattress Surfing
It's teenage boys (the ones I saw anyway) in a truck, with a mattress hooked up to the trailer hitch, then one boy on the mattress while being pulled by the truck. One boy died when his brother did a donut and the boy was trapped under the truck, the brother drove over him. SO sad!
The boys did this in an open field, but apparently some do it on the streets. I believe you can see it on utube if you register! I didn't bother to do that, I saw it on the "Dr. Phil" show!

Re: Mattress Surfing
I had a completely different idea of Mattress Surfing when I first read the post title when Luba first posted it but decided not to make light of the real story. I had more private ideas in mind.
