The Parents of a British girl whose disappearance sparked a four-month international search were declared suspects by Portuguese police Friday, their lawyer said.

It is a logical move though - and the move does not mean that the parents are necessarily charged with any offence.

There are huge gaps and inconsistencies around the time when Madeleine was reported as missing. That seems reasonable to sort out.

I never understood why they would leave three small children alone, especially being doctors. I do agree that the meal could have been ordered in. I never thought of the angle that the children may have been medicated and Madeleine MAY have received too much medication and died. It will be interesting to see how this Case is built up...

And they are in England. I doubt that is a smart move, if they are implicated by the police. I don't know what I'd rather do: deal with the Portuguese, or with the eternal damning you get from the British press, and all the funders for the Maddy campaign.

Although, this may lead to the first case of Brits being sent to Portugal to face criminal charges.

i dont think they've come home yet, they are still in portugal as far as i know. if they came back to britain there would be huge huge huge press coverage here about it. they are still being questioned there.

oh im sorry they did come home to england, but i heard this morning they are both going to be put as official suspects due to "damning evidence" that they had something to do with their daughters disaperance thats so sad if its true

I for one hope its not true but to be perfectly honest, I'm not really following the news that intently. The media does nothing but contort the story and add their own "conspiracy theory" crap into the mix which only serves to distort the facts.

Blame CNN for this, they are the ringleaders of utter nonsense reporting. If I have a choice, I'd pick BBC any day.

no bbc are just as bad tbh. and the worst worse bit is the newspapers. they will post utter rubbish and hey never really know whats going on, they make up their own stories and get the naive public to believe them.

i think the only thing the McCanns are guilty of is making a simple mistake which has resulted in the loss of their beautiful 4 year old daughter. something they will never ever forgive themselves for.
