If Your Child told you he/she was gay....
how would you react? Thinking about this topic because I read it's Gay Pride Week.

I have no idea how I'd react actually, never thought about it. I'm sure I'd feel a bit put off by it but then she's my child and I love her for who she is and not for her sexual preference.

Re: If Your Child told you he/she was gay....
dont have a child so hard to say, but i dont think id mind. my dad dosnt agree with gay and lesbians, but ive lots of gay friends i go out with.
i think a each genertion of children grow up they re more acceptable to it then the older generations. i mean my dad doent like it but he puts up with it. my gran dad tho wouldnt let one in his house. etc also o course the way people are brought up, and what their parents say can influence them.

I think we're more accepting as a society of alternate lifestyles now as compared to 20 years ago.

That may be true of the US, Canada and the UK. Research indicates that is not true in the Netherlands.

Re: If Your Child told you he/she was gay....
I would not be happy but I wouldn't disown them either. I would ask that they refrain from displaying a significant amount of affection with their significant other while in my house. I just am not comfortable with it. Plain and simple. But then I really don't want to see my kids kissing and hugging a boyfriend/girlfriend overly much either. Some things are just private.

I probably wouldn't care really. I have a few gay friends and they are cool.
My dad though...hah, he is not so accepting and really doesn't like "queers" as he calls them.

I would have never guessed this to be the case, aren't you allowed to smoke dope in public?
Just curious.

Surprisingly youth these days here are less accepting of homosexuality than their parents. It has been noted as a worrying trend for a reasonable number of years.

Both anti-semitism as xenophobia (immigrants, even moreso when they come from Islamic countries) have risen dramatically in the past few years. The latter was certainly on the rise under the previous government, but seems to decline somewhat (too early to have figures).
