Default "If I Did It" OJ's book controversey

Goldmans: Getting Book Rights Punishes O.J. - Entertainment News Story - KSAT San Antonio

The O.J. Book Controversy: The Goldmans and Denise Brown Speak Out

O.J. Simpson's Book If I Did It

'Simpson appears to be living a luxurious lifestyle, playing golf, signing autographs and defiantly mocking the Goldmans. "If I have to work to pay them, I won't work. It's that simple," Simpson once said. "So I'll just play golf everyday."

Very powerful show! The above quote from OJ really bothered me, an actual video of him saying that was shown on Oprah. I won't buy the book. The Goldmans will get 17 cents per copy sold.

O.J. Simpson was in a very long trial for the murder of his wife, Nicole Brown Simpson and Ron Goldman, they were killed in 1994. He was found not guilty. So the Browns and Goldmans, understandably, were devastated. They went to Civil Court, were awarded damages, of which none were paid by Simpson. So he writes this book called "If I Did It" and because of an outcry it was banned. Lately, the Goldmans, getting rights to the book, decided to put it out again to get some of the money they are entitled to, apparently on 17cents per book that goes to them. Denise Brown, Nicole's sister, who used to be in league with the Goldmans, now is against them calling what they are tyring to collect is "Blood Money". The Goldmans say the only reason they have the rights and want the book to be sold is that they don't feel Simpson should get any money for murdering Ron and Nicole. Apparently, Simpson already received around $600,000 up front.

I know that Simpson made this money up front but $600,000 US is peanuts considering the fortune he'd spent in legally defending himself for that 2 year stretch. Of course, that doesn't even include the damages he had to pay plus the fact that any career he had is now up in smoke. I personally don't know if he did kill them or not but regardless, he's not a free man anyway due to the continued scrutiny he's still (and always will be) under.

I very much do agree with Denise Brown however and think the Goldmans are no better that OJ. I realize they went through all this torment but it's the legal system that let them down and they should not profit further from Nicole's death. They could just as easily published the book online instead of make what will be a killing off book sales.

I'd have no issue with them publishing the book and donating a good portion of the proceeds to spousal abuse or something similar but for them to keep it is a crime; a crime against moral decency.

That is the great thing about public opinion / bias. Do we honestly think the McCann's were practicing medicine (they are both doctors) in Portugal, ever since Maddy disappeared?

But ya, money will be made in these cases. which sadly serves to supplement / be the family income. Which is doing nothing to prevent similar cases in the future.

ty luba and duke that completely gave me a better understanding of this story and i agree with duke. blood money is better left alone. almost like they care more about the money they believe they are entitled to, then about the death of a loved one.
