I wonder if this means Greyhound will finally start doing some sort of screening prior to loading their buses down with the dregs of society? I know that sounds mean but I gotta tell you, I used to take the bus plenty and back then there were always some troublemakers around. I actually worry when Lu takes the bus simply because they are overfull, horribly late (much of the time), poorly organized and have most travelers riled up.

Maybe this will be a wakeup call and either make Greyhound operate a bit safer or possibly bankrupt them all together.

Nothing will change. You can bring what ever you want on both busses & trains. There is no security what so ever. You think the busses run slow now? Try pre screening every peice of luggage / carry on / whatever. It won't happen, which is really unfortunate considering who the majority of the people that take the bus are...the dregs of society.

I refuse to take the greyhoud now after some girl hobo wouldn't leave me alone on the 12 hr ride from Winnipeg to Thunder Bay. What part of, I'm listening to music and want to be left alone, is so hard to understand?!?

Well it would be a bad decision on Greyhounds part to not act on this, I don't believe they can use the bad PR. I've experienced first hand the dregs on virtually every trip I've taken via Greyhound and I'm not surprised that many choose alternate means of travel.

It got to the point where I'd carry on a 2 liter of Orange Crush (previously emptied and refilled with California Cooler), guzzle the bl00dy thing and crash for most of the 10 hour trip. I'd also board the bus at the very first stop and reserve the back seat just so I wouldn't have to deal with anyone during the trip.

Of course you can do this when you board at the beginning of the line (in my case Vancouver BC, return Calgary).
