Re: D.C. Tries Cash as a Motivator In School
I could probably have it ordered but considering who we are taking about- doubt they'd pony up

LOL No. I think they should go to school in the community where they live instead of being bused all over the place. This diversity crap has done nothing but harm our education system.

"Masks real problems"
Um...like what real problems?
Global Warming? Nuclear Proliferation in Iran? Russian Aggression in Breakaway Republics? Endangered Wolverines??
I'm sure you'll think of some hyperbolic reason that CASH REWARD for GOOD BEHAVIOR is somehow "Wrong" even if it works.

See post #17.

Oh, you're saying that by paying kids that have good behaviour in school it "Masks" rael problems at home. That, in essence, Parents are not Parenting, and that's the "REAL" problem.
And your solution is to NOT reward good behaviour at school?
Instead, I suppose you'd rather schools punish kids by putting cigarettes out on them in order to Model Better Parenting?

Did you even read the post? My post said nothing about parents or home. It spoke of the current diversity through busing model that removes kids from the communities they live in and puts them into a situation in which they can't or won't relate. It's a failed model and unless it changes, our education system will continue to slide downward. Again, rewarding kids for behavior is just a band aid that masks the real problem.

So, you think that:
1. There were no discipline problems before integration
2. That ALL discipline problems having arisen since bussing have been a result of integration.
Again, the narrow little window through which you view the world amazes me. I wonder, do you have any proof outside of cross-burning rants from The Grand Dragon to substantiate this outrageous claim?

Of course there were discipline issues before integration. There's nothing racial about education and there's nothing outrageous about the claim. It's been around since busing started. In fact some communities are fighting back - School busing 25 years later.
