What You Do To Sleep Better
Ok, I went back 3 pages in the forum and didn't find a thread with this subject. Its kind of surprising considering the significance that this Unconcious Third of Our Lives makes on the other 2/3rds!
I try to stay away from drugs to sleep. I've found that taking a long hot shower followed by reading works best.
What do the rest of you do?

Because of my bad back I generally sleep on the bare floor. If not the floor, I throw down a couple winter (thick) sleeping bags and sleep on those.
As for helping me sleep, I'm a really "bad" night person and can stay up until 3 A.M. easy, but I'm really out of it all day if I try to wake up earlier.
Pretty much I have to make sure I wake up early enough that I'm too tired to stay awake by the time I go to bed and then make sure I'm at least lying down by the time I want to go to sleep.

I like to have one or two beers or drink some mugwort tea. Then I'll read for about a half an hour.

Never heard of mugwort tea.
I have a horrible time sleeping. Alcohol doesn't help even. Too many memories.

I sleep very soundly if I put my mind into complete rest just before sleep, like meditating, reading a chapter or two of from a good book, or just go through my day with deep gratitude thoughts...the latter one gets me a great night's sleep!
Unfortunately, if someone I deeply love or hold deep affection for passes away, especially suddenly, I go into shock for days until I can wrap my mind around it...

Would that be while you are at work?

I don't do it on purpose but.... go to bed too late
I'm usually too tired to stay awake. I do occasionally find that thoughts are keeping me awake. I try and keep my mind blank which usually works, but it's a bit of an effort so sometimes I go through a relaxation exercise l that I was taught that starts at your feet and works up. I'm usually asleep by the time I get to my knees.

I don't like to sleep, so that doesn't make me want to try anything to go to sleep. And of course, I absolutely hate to be tired.
My problem is that I can't relax, I'm restless, as a type of person. So... my best medicine so far is sleeping with my bf (not sex necessarily). I really am horrible at sleeping alone.
When I was in France I was taking Spasmine which was against stress and was a light relaxing pill - you could take it during the day too, up to 6 pills a day, so it really was light. I wasn't on it dayily but they were soooo handy.
If I feel like I'm about to die sleeping, I have a warm cup of milk with honey and try my complete yoga relaxation technique. Verrrry rarely, I admit. Like I said, I hate sleeping.

Interesting: I've never heard of anyone above the age of 13 that really hatd sleeping!
Perhaps you should get a substitute for your BF. A nice Cat, or a Hawt Water Bottle?
