Re: Weight Issues and Support
I haven't read all of the responses, but I can tell you what worked/s for me. I set one goal only. My first goal was not to eat after 7:00pm. I made myself do that for 2 weeks. Then I added drinking more water. I actually set pop-up reminders on my work PC to tell me to take a drink. I keep a bottle of water next to me. I now drink around 5-6 liters a day of water. After another 2 weeks I added 3 minutes of exercise - it consisted of walking around a circle in my house - thru the living room, dining room, kitchen, breakfast room because that is a circle. I added 5lb hand weights - they are 2.5lbs each and I swing my arms or 'march'. I did 3 minutes for the first week and then began adding a minute or two each week. After a few more weeks I began doing more aerobic exercises just standing in place on a rug in my living room - nothing too streneous, just a minute of jogging in place. Then I added stretching exercises before the aerobics instead of all the walking.
Its now six months later and I lost 65 pounds and kept it off during the holidays - although I did not lose anymore. Now I'm getting back to the diet. Oh, yes - After I started to lose some weight I was more encouraged to reduce my portions and cut out sugar and 'white' foods that have a lot of starch and carbs. It was easier to do because I was already seeing results and it was not that difficult to do.
Good Luck!

Re: Weight Issues and Support
I can tell you what my grandma would have said. She would have started out with a frisian saying; "Can-not is laying in the graveyard and want-not is laying next to him".
Then she would have given me a cup of thea and a cookie and say something like;"If you really want to do something you need to stop wanting it and start doing it or stop wanting it all together, just wanting something never brought anyone any good."
And that's coming from someone who raised 11 kids and spent a worldwar in captivity.
It was like she could solve all my problems with a cup of thea and some wise but lovingly short statements. I'm not sure if it helps you any though,

Re: Weight Issues and Support
I've gone from 98 kg's to 70 kg's which I was very very proud of myself. But in the last 6-8 months I have gone from 75 kg's back up to 95 kg's. I feel tired more often no matter if I get 2 hours sleep or 10 hours sleep. When I drive into work I stop off at a nearby petrol station and get a pie & 2 vdrinks. I end up getting up to 6 vdrinks a day.
On weekends I tend to get 3 cheese & bacon roles & 3 vdrinks each of the 2 mornings on my way to my fiances place. I can't stop doing that in my mind & for that reason I have put on that weight.
I do a bit of walking at work workwise and I am buggered alot during that time, it makes me feel sad and all that junk. I so want to lose the 20 or so kg's to get back under 80 kg's but am finding it really really tough. Am determind but its so hard.

Re: Weight Issues and Support
This is the year for me, Aaron, or I stop talking about it! I LOVE walking and am going to do SOOOOOOOO much of it this year!! I'm also lifting some weights! Gonna do it, gonna do it, gonna do it! You're SO right, it is very hard to keep on it! Each day is a new beginning to keep trying, that's what I say to myself!

Re: Weight Issues and Support
Thanks for helping me with my weight loss, Vautrin! I've been here practically all morning...which means I wasn't near food and all the laughter must have helped! I've gained SO much support here, and I'm grateful to everyone who has been posting positives here! I'm keepin' on!
