I have to be vague here, because of legal stuff and junk, but some people just are sick. I work as a computer technicial doing simple installs.virus removals/hardware troubleshooting, that type of thing. We had a computer come in today that required me to call the police, because of some stuff on it and now I've been steaming all day. Some people just piss me off and this guy was one of them.

I don't understand how some people can be attracted to some things.

calling the authorities was deffinately the right thing to do. The more that people get involved and take these sick monsters off the streets, the better for our kids safety.

I'll never understand how adults can do this to kids. it's sick.

I think calling the authorities is all you CAN do in a situation like that. It's better to be safe than sorry. Even if people are saving the wrong types of files and pics on their puters, rather than taking them themselves, you are doing them a favor by pointing out what they are doing is WRONG and they need help.

When Duke first started the site, I was playing around with trying to find key words....and I ran into some crap online that just made me nauseated. I believe I posted about it because it was so d*mn disturbing.

It's one of those things I just don't understand.

Had both the local police and the sherrif come out today. THe local police couldn't do anything since he lived outside of city limits, sherrif's ended up seizing the computer and they're in the process of getting a search warrant. I just have to make the guy think I'm working on his computer another 2 days until the warrant is done and they can search the machine.

It's a shame it can take a couple of days to get a search warrent for something like that.....but that's the way the law is set up.

Also...I would think the problem on a puter would be that the person could say that stuff got loaded onto their puter while they were surfing elsewhere....like a spam or virus type thing. Or am I wrong?

they could say whatever they want, but if the computer search finds other evidence then they are in trouble.

It could be the virus, I really don't know how it got there, all I know is that it was there and it was very unpleasant looking for it, it was very unpleasant showing it to four different officers, and I've fealt very unpleasant since then. Especially since part of me worries that the guy knows who I am.

He did look like a rather rough fellow. I'm more worried about him making a scene in the store, not really coming after me. I can handle myself for the most part. 6'2" 290lbs, and it's not all fat. He was some small sized 50 year old guy with a scraggly beard. I just don't want any scenes at work. I'm off today and tomorrow though, I won't have to deal with him once the search warrant goes through which should be today.

If it's the odd file then it can be a virus, if it's video content of any length then it's definately downloaded, no virus' that I know of can put all of that on your computer nor can they force you to download other software.

You can also find out when the files were placed on the computer, what media player was used to view them and when they were last modified I believe.

Hopefully all this guy has is media and no victims locked or buried in his basement.

Well form looking at files and other info.

His Virus scanner was last updated on May 18th, the files in question were created on November 12th of last year. They were all jpg files, no video, but there were tons of them.

He had given me a list of file locations to backup for him though, and the pictures in question were in three out of the four file folders he asked me to backup, that's how it all came about anyway.

I'm off tomorrow as well, so I might find something out by Friday, it's probably on a need to know basis though, and I really don't need to know, but my dad said I shouldn't be surprised if I get subpoend to testify against him at some point.

There's no question that the files were put there deliberately, virus' rarely do this sort of thing, if ever. For the most part they take over your computer and/or make it difficult to use programs due to them hi-jacking. I know there's several thousands (if not millions) of virus' out there but I have yet to see one that builds folders and uploads sick images to them.

I think your Dad may be right. It's probably not a bad idea to get a memo pad and keep a time line on what you found, where you found it and what time it was...plus any conversation you had with the guy.
