I thought I'd ask you guys about this as doctors forums aren't always the most informative places. But if we have any doctors here then great!
A lump has come up very rapidly in my left underarm and I'm a bit worried about it. I started on Microlut, a minipill, a couple of months ago so when I started get sore boobs, I just put it down to that seeing as it's a listed side effect. They've been sore for a few days now but then last night I realised there was a lump, probably the size of a pea, that wasn't there earlier in the day. It's very sore to the touch but it's not red or anything. I don't think it's an ingrown hair as there aren't any other indications of that. I thought it might have been a mozzie bite as they seem to love my skin but it's not itching at all and I always react really badly to mozzie bites, welts and everything. I've actually had to take some painkillers today due to it being so sore. I've heard that if it was anything linked to 'C' then it would most likely not be painful, but I still can't help but worry. Should I give it a couple of days, see whether it goes of it's own accord? Does anyone else have experience of this at all...?

I can't say as I've heard of anything that comes to the surface so quickly other than bug bites. I can't see it being the big "C" but I don't think its a bad idea to see your physician anyway; better safe than sorry.

It would be a good idea to check it out, amay; not bothering to wait. I don't know how appointments work in your area, but I know that if I explained symptoms to my doctor, I would be squeezed in between appointments immediately.

I have been told by doctors that swollen lymph nodes from cancer don't usually hurt but it is worth checking out. I had one a few years ago and the doctors did a biopsy and actually removed the offending lymph node. It was just an infected lymph node filled with benign fluid. Your lymph nodes can swell due to any kind of sore on your arm or fingers or anywhere near the underarm, even from shaving and nicking yourself. The sore breasts could be from the Microlut. I would go to a doctor and make sure. It is most likely benign but better to be safe than sorry.

I've got a gynae appointment on Tuesday as a follow up about the pill stuff (it's more for regulation and issues with cysts rather than contraception) so I'll ask if it could be a side effect and whether she thinks I should follow up about the lump, even though I know the lump wouldn't be her area of expertis as it were... the lump has got a little bit bigger and still as sore but still no red, itch, etc... I suppose I'd better get my money's worth from the doc!

She should be able to help with the lump too. She will probably refer you to someone more specialized in that area though. You will be fine. Keep your chin up. I know what you are going through. I had a lump under my arm, had it checked after going through all the scenarios in my head as to what it could be and then it was benign. Hang in there kiddo.
