CHICAGO - Difficulty identifying common smells such as lemon, banana and cinnamon may be the first sign of Alzheimer's disease, according to a study that could lead to scratch-and-sniff tests to determine a person's risk for the progressive brain disorder.

I can smell the coffee beans in Columbia so I'm pretty sure my brain is ok (for now).

Yikes. It makes sense though, considering what the disease does on brain level. And smell is a brain function too. And unlike hearing or sight few intermediaries are involved.
