My Life Might As Well Be Over
I've been having terrible pains under my right rib cage. Everytime I ate I was nauseated and getting headaches (which is rare for me). Finally, by this evening, I could barely stand up straight. So, I go to the walk in clinic (Solantic)....they say I need to see my doctor as soon as possible....but it was pretty obvious I having a gall bladder attack....possibly brought on by my Eat Fest at the resturaunt last Sunday.
For all the pain, sleeping probs, eating anti-acids like candy and a number of others I won't mention (since belching like a cow is so lady like).....this is what I'm supposed to do:
Stop all fatty foods
No chocolate
No liquor
No caffiene
No dairy
Cigarettes are always frowned upon
I'm sitting there thinking WTF....why don't you just take me out and SHOOT my A$$ in the parking lot! I can't even imagine a life without those things.
Anyway, the doctor will have to set up some testing....but they are pretty sure this is what my problem has been the past 3 months.
At least they didn't tell me to stay off the internet....now, it's all I've got left!!

Condolences,Sugar-I went through this too-I just collapsed a few years back-I had to overhaul everything and my Doctor still complains...
You have to take it one step at a time-changing your entire life regardless of the enormity of the situation isn't going to happen over night-sift through the trash and see what goes first.
God is merciful,Sweety-make a real effort and He'll help you...

Eating all healthy just isn't my thing. I knew it would come back to bite me eventually. I have a 'diet plan' to stay on for a week and then I'll go back for a ultrasound. The doctor said between the two, he would then know if removing gall stones was something we needed to do. (It's a very simple operation with no hospistal stay) However, he said if I wasn't willing to maintain a healthy diet....then the operation (if needed) would be a waste of time.
I just can't imagine a life without coffee and beer....

You know, at my birthday party they had a poster which said 'If you were a horse...they would've shot you by now'.
That's ok...you'll be getting older too....and I'll be waiting with the jokes. 8)

I had my gall bladder removed when I was 24 after a very nasty attack. I can now eat all those things that made me hurt. The problem I have now is diverticulitis. So eating healthy, aka: lots of fiber, is good but you don't have to go without the chocolate, pizza, beer, etc. if you have your gall bladder removed. If all they do is remove the stones then, yes you will have the problems again. I do get the occassional heartburn now that I am older but it isn't anything like when I had my gall bladder still. Maybe see a different doctor and have the whole damn thing removed.

I'm not a doctor, but I would gladly play Dr. "Can Merika come out to play?" :lovedoctor:
Actually, I have similar problems. What I find helps me is not to focus on what I can't eat, but try to add healthy foods to my diet. Like making, it a point to eat fruits and vegetables, drink lots of water and eat high fiber foods. Sometimes we forget how good natural foods taste, fresh sweet cherries are heavenly, ripe peaches can be juicy and sensous, celery and peanut butter is one of my favorite foods. Being healthy doesn't have to hurt. I still eat chocolate, drink coffee and beer. I did quit smoking and I'm trying to cut back on coffee (without much success) but I take it one step at a time and do the best I can.

My mom went thru the same thing. I think in the end it's much what Adonai said in that we all need a healthier diet. However, I'm not giving up beer and coffee....ever.

That kind of news sucks big time. But then again, if you try to lower the usage of the mentioned things, that might have a positive effect too. And just because the doctor orders this or that, does not mean you have to execute that to the letter.
Hope everything turns out right Merika.
