Default My Baby Daughter is in for a tough week :(

1st of all today was a real stinker weather wise reaching 31 degrees, we booked a palce for my fiances 21st which was great but that's all that was great.

My Baby daughter who has just reached 4 months of age last friday has a blocked tear duct

Now did some research only to find out that can go away by the time she has reached 9 months, or can be fixed via popping a membrane under general anesthetic or via a different operation. SO we are going to take the little angel to the local doctors tomorrow. Am feeling pretty sad bout it, even though no doubt it is common in alot of babies throughout the world.

To top this off she is due to have her Hep B needle this Friday. She is a damn tough cookie but it makes her Daddy (me of course) just a little sad with all this pulling few heart strings. Finding it tough to keep in my tears.

Will keep you updated on this also.

Was wanting to know if any of you know of any Natural Therapies we can use to get this Blocked Tear Duct fixed without possible surgery ???

Cheers ahead of time people

So sorry to hear she is in for a tough week.

Sadly I don't know any natural therapy means of getting rid of the ear-block. Perhaps one of the parents on the forum has a good suggestion though.

Try not to worry for her about the Hep B shot. She will be fine, as you said yourself. Pain and things like this are part of life. And there is nothing you can do to change that, discomforting as it is.

Tear Duct Massage Helps Clear Obstructions

Hope this helps somewhat, Aaron!

There will be many, many instances in your life where you will be feeling the pain that your baby feels! It just proves what a wonderful, doting father you are and how fortunate she is to have you for a loving parent!!

You will also be dreading her shot but thinking at the same time how important it is that you are keeping your daughter as healthy as possible!

It is an honour to know a loving father like you!

I have heard of that but never had that with my kids. The roller coaster ride is just beginning. You need to be a tough cookie too, at least outwardly, so she doesn't have a reason to feel scared herself. Kids pick up on that from their parents. If you watch on a playground for example and see a kid fall and hurt himself, he will look at his parent to see their reaction. If the parent rushes over then the kid will start crying like he is dying but if he sees you acting unconcerned he will probably shed a couple tears, maybe come for some comfort and then head back out and play like nothing happened. Sorry I don't know any therapies. You might try putting a warm wash cloth on the area for short periods off and on. Don't make it too hot but warm enough to possibly open up the tear duct a bit. Sorry I am not more help.

I can't help on the tear ducts, but here it's common to give babies a half dose of infant painkiller before the immunisation. please don't do this without calling the doctors first to ask if it's OK and what the dose is. If your baby has a soother then take it, or if not then some milk - they only cry for a second if you have something to distract them with! With my 2nd I fed her whilst she was being immunised, anything for a quiet life

My kids did great with shots. Neither one cried much at all. I just looked the other way and whispered to them and held them. They do so much better then their parents!!
