I'm not healthy
A year ago I was working full-time, going to the gym at least every second day and eating pretty well. Now I'm 6'1" and a little on the thin side anyway but at that point I felt the best I ever have and weighed around 170. But now, I haven't worked full-time since April since I quit my job, haven't gone the gym in months and hardly eat. I've never felt worse physically in my life, I look horrible, guant and I know I'm a bit malnurished. I've honestly considered seeking help because I'm scared I'll get really sick because of this.
The problem isn't that I'm anorexic or anything, I know I look like crap like this and it certainly hasn't done anything for the self-esteem. Up until lately it's been more of a money thing then anything, I quit a job I hated, doing something I loved, and poured all my money into a business that's just kicked me in the ass. Also I'm not much of a cook so usually I end up eating some form of pasta which does absolutely nothing for you anyway. I ate a Sheppards Pie TV Dinner not to long ago and it was the best thing I tasted in months, no joke.
My gf has moved in with me, been here a week now and of course she is concerned about me. She tries to feed me but on our financial budget things are limited and she's looking for a job while I'm back to doing part-time stuff. I still have the gym membership so I told her I'm going to go back, she's going with me because she thinks she's fat, but at 125 lb, she looks beautiful to me. Now I need to set some goals.
So I'm truely hoping I can get better, I'm so weak at this point compared to a year ago that when I flex it's just soft, it's never been this bad. I don't know exactly what I weigh right now but it's gotta be 20 lbs lighter, I'll update that when I know for sure. It's a huge goal but I want to weigh 200 lbs this time next year and at this point in my life I'm determined and scared enough to make it happen. Please pray for me, I have a slender body type anyway and it's going to be hard but I know with some hard work I can get better.

Go back to the gym and invest in some weight gainer. Do you have a bulk food store close? I usually buy my basic food in bulk witch saves alot of money.

Paul, after reading your post I sat here for long moments trying to figure out what to say. I've read so many of your heart-filled posts, and think you are a good, good man! I will definitely pray that life gets better for you both!

Paul, I'm sorry tohear that things aren't going so well with you physically and financialy. It's really hard to be in that situation but with your determination and strong will, you can do this.
I'll keep you in my prayers.

Thanks a lot, I really appreciate your responses! I have some weight-gain called Whey and I'm planning on hitting the gym again because it's really important right now for me to be healthy. I know that it's affected me mentally as well, in that my mind isn't as active as it use to be. I really want to create a better and fuller life for myself but I think it really starts with looking after your own body. Thank you very much for all your encouragement!

I have just the opposite problem Paul, I'm too heavy and need to get my arse back in shape. I too have a gym membership but it's never actually paid for itself except when I was "fake and baking". Then I'd have to go to the gym for a few hours to burn off all the energy I got from tanning, still not sure why.
I'm waiting for a tax refund to come in and I'll be purchasing a home gym. I had one years ago and had to get rid of it due to lack of space but I simply don't care anymore. When I had the gym, I was buff and full of energy, I actually can't wait to get a new one.

Geez Paul....I wish you lived closer so I could invite you guys over to dinner a couple of nights a week or give you some food.
Is there any way at all you could qualify for at least a month of food stamps or something? I'm not sure how easy it is to get those in Canada. I'm sure there is some sort of agency or church who could help you out until you get back on your feet.
I'm just so sorry and feel so helpless.....

I'll keep you guys updated on how it goes, I'm going to the gym tomorrow no matter what, it's do or die time (no pun intended).

Keep at it Paul. I've been struggling in the opposite direction. I was at 300 lbs when I started working out and I'm fighting it. I'm trying to get down to about 220 lbs, but I'm addicted to fast food much to my chagrin. I'm currently at 308 which is actually an increase in weight, but it's because I'm bulking at the moment, and it's not the goal I'm trying to achieve. I've kept my waist the same, or maybe even shrunk it, and for some reason I'm in the midst of a growth spurt. About a month ago I was 6'2" and now I've grown another inch. I'm 23 and having a growth spurt....go figure.
We both have our work cut out for us, but tell you what. You make your commitment to go the gym, I've got mine. We can race to see if you gain faster or if I lose faster. It might give you a bit of motivation.
I'll be praying for you too Paul.

I was going to PM you Paul....but I like to keep the conversations open on the board....so I'll say this: I don't know you except for the time we've spent on this forum together....but I really care about you personally and I know God will hear your prayer and respect the man you are.

TZummer, there are medical conditions that can cause growth well into adulthood. Most often it is not a good sign if it keeps on continuing. So take good care of yourself, and don't shrug it off, as if it were nothing.
Paul, sorry to chime in on the late side. I am very thin myself, and before I went to the US, I was almost anorexic. I am about 5'9" and weighed about 130 lbs. In my case, it is not related to eating habits.
Luckily I have gained about 15 pounds or so. Mostly due to the American donuts wafels, and fastfood. I am actually starting to look a bit healthier because of that :? I could never attain a healthy weight.
Weight issues are really frustrating to suffer from. Know that we are here to support you and TZummer in your quests for healthy body-weights.
I will keep the both of you in my thoughts.
