Default I start night shifts...

...as of next Monday. No more responsibility for anyone but myself, no more being on the hook for my employees inadequacies, no more stress and more money. For the life of me I can't imagine why I never came to this conclusion sooner. :?

I work at a company that does all sorts of stuff from printing decals and metal nameplates, to laser cutting, assembling components from fibre optics to fuse panels for Class 8 rigs as well as membrane switches and backlighting components such as EL and LED's.

Night shift is pretty cool because it's only 4 day weeks, start at 4 PM, off at around 2:30 AM, and, like you, I can't sleep well before 2 AM either.

I would prefer night work if I didn't have kids at home. I've done a night shift every now and then....and it's a much more relaxed atmosphere....and all the big bosses are NOT THERE! I'll miss you posting at night though D00k!

I'll actually be posting a lot more when the rest of you are on now I think. I may also stop by during coffee and lunch break.

sounds like an interesting job.

Isn't that considerd second shift though?

my mom is starting a new job, they were offering second shift (4:00PM - 12:00AM i think) and night shift(10:30PM - 6:00AM).

Well, whatever shift it is, hope it works out well for you.

Do they pay more for a shift differencial? We used to get $1 more an hour for working 2nd or 3rd shift.

You're prolly right Random about the termanology but since we only run the two shifts it's considered nightshift.

I do get a shift differential but it's only about $.80/hr. That's fine with me though because now I'll actually be paid hourly and actually be paid for overtime.
