High Price of Gas and Food
How is your household managing? Is it creating more Stress? Do you take the bus, car pool, sky train, bike, or walk more often? Do you cut down on non-essentials at the Grocery Store? How is your household changing in these high-priced times?

Re: High Price of Gas and Food
I travel less, I've had to change plans. We probably wont be visiting upstate relatives this summer. Food prices aren't crazy here and this isnt creating an issue.

Re: High Price of Gas and Food
Ah I probably travel MORE now...but I don't drive, I don't have a car since I moved to Toronto. I do however go on a ton of vacations and I've definately noticed an increase in price. I just paid $644 for a round trip ticket to Calgary in July. That used to be really expensive - Now it's about as cheap as you can get. Ugh.

Re: High Price of Gas and Food
I drive as little as possible and no longer fill up when I get gas. I drive a reasonably heavy car with a 4.6 litre V8 so the less weight I carry on board, the better.

That is totally true.
The price hikes barely affect me (no car, little motorised travelling) directly. However, these hikes do have an effect on the amount of US$ my gf is making, as the South African Rand seems to be a bit more susceptible to decrease in value relative to the US$ and the Euro.
Duke is it me, or are you driving an extremely heavy car? If you do the offroad thing, or go through mountainous areas, I can understand. But it makes little sense for me to drive a tank, especially with the fuel prices as they are.

Re: High Price of Gas and Food
When I purchased the car gas was still pretty reasonable so it wasn't such an issue. Now that gas has pretty much tripled in price though it's biting me pretty hard.
The problem is I just can't afford another used car right now and a lease is not in my future for a few years to come simply because of my business venture. I also may be in the market either for a pickup truck or a van soon so I can't really act on a new vehicle because the pickup or van will become my daily driver.

Re: High Price of Gas and Food
It hasn't effected me in the least.
A. I need to eat less
B. My Work is Play. When I "go to work" its like a vacation for me. Gas is a business expense.

Re: High Price of Gas and Food
Fuel has reached £2 a litre here and is making big news and Diesel is approaching the same price. It makes you wonder how all those oil companies can announce billions in profit and get away with it.

Exactly, if you ask me there should be some kind of laws imposed.
I can't wait for the day that some organization starts charging us for air, h3ll we already pay for clean water, will clean air be next?

Re: High Price of Gas and Food
yeah but what can you do about it? if they tax the oil companies for windfall profits its not like the money comes back to us, it just ends up paying for politicians pet projects.
