Default Epidermal Cysts?????????

Jackson started to get this thing that was growing under his chin. It looks like a raised blood blister about the size of a really large zit or maybe a wart. It's all red and soft feeling. Worse yet....it bleeds like a mother if it gets hit, which does happen when he plays sports.

I looked online and it seems to be in the epidermal cyst family. Has anyone ever had one of those?

I think it's sticking out far enough that it's become unsightly. It just looks odd poking out there like that. Then when it bleeds it comes out in gushes and ruins shirts.

It's only been there a couple of weeks. We started out thinking it was a spider bite or something. Then it kept getting bigger. Now it's really obvious that he has something odd growing out of the bottom of his chin.

I called the doctor's office today. They didn't have any openings close up but she said she would call me tomorrow morning if they had any cancellations. She said they usually try draining them the first time and then if it comes back they will schedule a removal. There isn't any cancer related to this type of cyst.

He is going to the doctor on Monday morning. I guess we'll find out then what the dang thing is. It exploding and getting blood all over his shirts is getting really embarassing for him.

It seems not to be harmful, mostly annoying. Sometimes, from what I have read, such a spot might be a cancer. However, it does not behave at all like some cancer.

Hope for the best.

I think I have heard of similar things. I hope they can take care of it. Does he wear a bandage on it to keep it from bleeding on his clothes? It might be beneficial until he sees a doc.

Yes, they will need to check it isn't anything nasty. I'm glad he's going early as if it is they will be able to sort it out by removing it. I googled and the only benign cyst I could find which bleeds is seborrheic keratosis, but they are usually darker.

Merika, let me know if you need any info after you've been to the Doctors, if there's anything you're not sure about. I can ask a friend who does day surgery in a dermatology clinic. She knows Chloe and would be happy to help.

I had something like that under my chin once, it was an ingrown hair. Big pain in the arse so I just picked at it with tweezers till i got the damn thing.
