Default DIET: Thin people may be fat inside

By MARIA CHENG, AP Medical Writer 2 hours, 27 minutes ago

LONDON - If it really is what's on the inside that counts, then a lot of thin people might be in trouble. Some doctors now think that the internal fat surrounding vital organs like the heart, liver or pancreas — invisible to the naked eye — could be as dangerous as the more obvious external fat that bulges underneath the skin.

If that is true, then maybe us fat people are really thin on the inside and going to live forever!!!

Its funny but you can die from virtually anything these days it seems. I believe its always been this way but now science has more of a handle on why.

A friend of mine had a saying about stuff like this, "you worry, you die, you don't worry, you're still gonna die".

I think that about sums up life right there if you ask me.

Sadly people who are over weight have fat surrounding their organs already, jsut slim people when they eat will store fats but not always on the outside as mentioned.

You ever hear a slim person say "i can eat and eat and never get fat/put weight on" ? thats because they are the very type of people that experiment was based on. And those are the people whos bodies store fat on the inside and around the vital organs. Just as dangerous as being obese.

That is the problem with a lot of these studies. "Increases risk of this ... or that ..." sometimes the increase is so small (like increasing odds from 1 per 100.000 to 1 per 75.000), that they are no real reason for concern.

Even if you are overweight, that does not automatically mean you have a lot of fat around your vital organs. Body weight is more complex than just the amount of food you eat / amount of fats you eat.

As always the classical advice, to watch what you eat is best.

dont listen to half of what the magazines and newspapers say, they pick apart anything they can. Its when you listen and believe them things go hidesously wrong and you start to wonder this or that and before you know it you've deleveloped an eating disorder all from what other people have said.

my biggest problem is i hate eating. i dont hate food, obviously there are foods i dislike or prefer but i hate eating them. i constantly starve myself for a few days at a time every week. Im not even sure whre i got that from. but finding out what is in food didnt help

nah its nothing to do with meat or such, tho im hugely against animal cruelty and hunting.

I just have a nasty "phobia" i guess about eating. and i will admit, i freak out about putting on weight. I scare myself stupid with those thoughts sometimes. :/

I see; but as long as it is not extreme (obesity / underweight) a few kilograms don't hurt. In fact, a few kilograms extra means you will need to spend more energy to walk around as well.

I wonder if some scientist did the calculations.

Kinetic energy = 0.5 * m * v * v.

If you would walk at 2.5 m/s v *v = 6.25; and the equation will be 0.5 * 44.4 * 6.25 = 3.125 * 44.4 = 138,75 J.

If you walk 1 km (0.6214 mile), you will walk for 400 seconds. 400 *138.75 = 55,5 kJ. Given that the body has a conversion rate for walking of around 25%, the actual result should be multiplied by 4. Hence you would need 222 kJ to walk 1 km. (roughly 50 ((kilo))calories.

For each kilogram you gain, you will need 5 kJ extra energy to walk 1 kilometer (1.2 ((kilo)) calories). Just gain some weight and enjoy the "free" cookies

P.S.

I am skinny as well.
