Vautrin... there's flying... and then there's flying... I meant as in bat - flying (you know vampires can fly, don't you???)
On the other hand, I soooo sound like Meanon here: I don't know why on Earth I never visited the Netherlands since it borders France and all. Last year I had cancelled a week end to Amsterdam for one in the North of France. It was nice... But I am starting to get all itchy about leaving again.
Can't wait to go to USA!!!

I knew vampires can fly, but I cannot accurately estimate the speed of them. And with all the lights, you should not want to betray yourself. So better to take a flight in the evening, when it is dark.
The Netherlands do not share a border with France, unless you mean the border in the Carribean on St. Maarten, an island that is shared between the two countries.
Hopefully the trip to the USA will give to you what you hope it gives.

Well, it does border Belgium!!! I have a little problem with Begium's independendance, apparently . Forget the islands, I'm just as bad with countries as it is !!!
You know, Vautrin, in order to be happy with what I may find I have to know what I'm looking for first. And you were right about bats velocity... I got so excited about the concept that I ignored the physical limitations of it... Still... bat flight... that's cool!!! Highly inpractical, but cool !

I'm gonna leave my window open tonight!
Sorta like buying a lotto ticket...you know you're not gonna win, but the dollar you spend to fantasize about winning is really worth the expenditure.

In a sense that is true. In a sense that is not true.
Because to know what you want, you must also know if what you are fantasizing about is possible. Confrontations with reality are needed, otherwise we build air castles, and often become disappointed if things don't turn out as we think they should turn out.
The road to a discovery is more like a spiral.
And ultimately: you can be happy regardless of what you find. That is something which is very difficult to achieve. But possible nonetheless.

We have roller coasters, but that would suggest that:
1) discovery is a repetetive proces
2) discovery is making you want to puke
The real essence of the spiral is, that the thing which is important (truth) is enclosed by the spiral, but never makes contact with the spiral itself.

I personally prefer the spiral analogy. Travelling on a spiral is anything but straight!
You come to realize that you are on to something, and have to give up your old ideas, which seem wrong. When you succesfully advance on the spiral, you remove yourself first very quickly from the old ideas. Then very slowly, and then you even approach them somewhat, albeit on a different and higher level.
Often the old ideas where not as ridiculous as you once thought, in the process of discovery. And it allows for more than 1 viewpoint being valid. As we cannot be omnipotent, there is a beauty in that thought.
I know Duke is going to puke imagining all that, especially if he wonders how to calculate the distance between two points ofr a spiral in a mathematical equation :P .

Based on the spiral analogy.....here's a pic I'll refer to as The Harvest of Life.

Okay...okay....but you have to admit they are kinda cool looking.
