Default Bad Year for Colds and Flu

Was last year one of the worst years for colds and flu? I was sick a number of times and so was virtually everyone I know.

It was for me. I caught a really bad chest cold about a week before christmas (we all go tit, even the baby) and I'm still coughing. I'm coughing less but i still have those coughing fits at night time. It's nasty this cold!

I haven't got the flu in years and years. I don't get the shot either.

I don't get the flu shots either, you don't really need them unless your really young, really old, or a doctor recommends it.

You actually can't get the flu from a flu shot. You get injected with a blend of top strains of flu and your body fights them, hence you build up immunity. The problem is that many people do get sick because their immune system is too busy fighting the injection.

well, to us it's not worth getting sick over. We never get the flu and we haven't for years and years. besides, I hate needles. one of my fears. :?

It's really not worth it and it's no guarantee that you won't get sick anyway. The thing that makes the flu so successful is it's a virus and virus' mutate.

Must be something going on. I'm almost never sick and this year ... bam, I caught a really bad cold. I fought it, took my pill religiously and was fine in one week.

My bf on the other hand... GOD! HE got sick at least five times. 40°C, etc etc. Guess who was making milk and tea and fetching the water and... That's what I hate about him, he's such a big baby!!! Yeah, so he's not perfect.

You'll find that most men are babies when it comes to being sick. It's not so bad when we're alone, but in the presence of a woman we tend to play it up a bit more. I think it's just nice to have a woman care for us when we're sick.

Men are babies period. I don't have 2 kids and a grandchild, I have 3 kids and a grandchild. Men love to be taken care of. Hubby went right from his mom's apron strings to mine. as long as they take care of you too, then it all evens out in the end.

Women are pretty needy as well but I don't think it's a gender specific trait that's stronger from one gender to the next. When we're alone we're all more self sufficient, we have to be. When we're hooked up then we rely on each other for help in part of our daily lives. How much help we ask for can depend on many things I'm guessing, one of which is likely how you were treated as a child.

Two people I know had bad complications from what was actually a mild flu. My oldest son's went into his ears and he said it was the most painful thing imaginable.

Alkali(who posts on here) got it and it went into pnemonia. He has been VERY sick since Christmas. I think he should be in the hospital and I think they may still end up putting him there.

Here I thought I was actually getting better and I'm feeling sicker over the past few days than I have for a while.
