Do you ever confuse yourself with your screen name?

I have caught myself a few times thinking of myself as Duke rather than Ken. I've never had a nickname in my life so this actually gets a bit confusing for me at times.

I've ended up meeting quite a few people through the years who I originally met online. Most have been guys who I've met who's ship ended up coming here for one reason or another or we had a planned meeting.

Even THEN...it's hard to get out of screen name thoughts! I have found if you email using your real name....it's easier to make that as a name connection rather than the screen name.

So now...when I PM or email.....I use only my real name or sign off with both so people can make the connection.

Gosh...that wasn't even what this thread was about was it?


I think 'Duke' being an actual real name, rather than using something obviously a screen name like 'PistolPacker'...you tend to identify yourself to the name in a different way.

Even though...if we used our real names....Barbie and ken....it would just be TOO WIERD! LMAO!

Duke is actually short for Dukabor. I'm half Russian and dukabor is a form of Russian Religion.

A guy I knew many years ago used to call me Duke so when it came to chosing a screen name I took the only nickname I was ever given.

Maybe we are related. Catherine the Great came from my mother's home town of Darmstadt, Germany!

Seriously.....Russia is one of the VERY few countries I still want to visit and have actually spent quite a bit of time learning their history.

I am so un original my screen name is the same for EVERYTHING I DO, I can't keep up with all the diffrent names and passwords so I keep everything the same.. I should have put a little more thought as to what to perminatly name myself.... I guess I can't forget my own name

it probably depends if people online know you bye your real name and when they talk to you as your real name that wouldnt happen as much but if they talk to you as your nick name or sreen name...you would probably think of yourself as your sceen name... and it also depends on how long your online .......

Well if time online is part of the problem then that explains why I think of myself as Duke sometimes. I spend so much time on the computer that it's rediculous. I'm starting to get callouses so hard on my rear that I could prolly play the guitar with my butt cheeks.

I dont really get mixed up with my computer name because it's Isis and almost EVERYONE knows that it's not a regular name like Duke or whatever and im not on the computer enough to worry about wether to sign a letter with my real name or my computer name....did that make any sence? :umya:

I was lucky enough to go there in 1992, just after the fall of the USSR so it still had that sort of cold soviet feel about it (it was in winter too so it added to the effect) which was at the same time spooky but interesting. Because of the time I was also lucky enough to see things before commercialism stepped in and all the streets got plastered with McDonalds and Coke adds :roll: . Its a beautiful place, highly recommend St.Petersburg and the Winter Palace.
