Your Internet Connection
What type of internet connection do you use.....and are you happy with it? Do you keep a cheaper backup connection....just in case your primary one is down? You can give the cost you spend per month if you want to.

I pay 40.00 a month for High Speed cable internet. I love it! I wouldn't go to anything else unless they were faster then cable was.

I lost a little speed when I went to Clearwire, which is a wireless connection, but not much. It was also $10 a month the first 3 months and $24 a month after that. The only person who notices the speed diff is my son because he downloads a lot of music. I barely notice it.
10 X faster in Korea.....Whats up with that???

that's slow! I wouldn't pay 40.00 a month for something as slow as that. I'm quite happy with my internet now. I had dial for years because that's all i could have living out in the country. I'd never go back to that.

I just checked mine and it's 1.5Mbps MAX....based on their web page info.
For $24.99 a month, subscribers get download connections at 512 kilobits per second and upload speeds of 128 Kbps. A kilobit is 1,000 bits of information. Higher speeds cost more: for $34.99 a month, a subscriber gets downstream connections at 1.5 million bits, or megabits, per second and 256 Kbps upload speeds.
In comparison, normal dial-up connection speeds are 56 Kbps downstream and 33 Kbps upstream. Local cable broadband speeds are about 3 to 5 Mbps, or about two to three times faster than Clearwire.

Mine is dial up costing ã15 a month ($30?) and it crashes CONSTANTLY. I think it may be because I have ad/spywear stuff. There's a site offering free removal but I can't stay online long enough to download the damn thing. :?

YOu need to find someone at work or a friend or just take the puter down to a comupter shop to get it looked at and cleaned. That SpyWare/AsWare will totally ruin your speed time....plus cause you to crash all the time. It's really worth getting someone to take a look at it.
WOW...that's high for dial up. I used dial up for years though....and it isn't horrible....just a lot slower...depending on what you do on the net. If you mainly do email and forums....it's not too taxing.

i have ad/spyware removal programs on my puter. it gets rid of all that unwanted junk. I use as-aware and spybot. you can download them off the net for free. it really does keep your puter clean.
30.00 a month for dial up is very expensive! dial can go now for 10.00 amonth with some companies because it's not so popular anymore. I used to pay 20.00 a month years ago when i had dial up with sprint.

AHA am techno queen - I found the button that tells me that I am connected at 45,333 bps. I'll get around to sorting out the ad/spy stuff eventually. I'm going to have one more go at doing it myself, the computer is so ancient it's hardly worth spending money on it.
