Default Would someone please explain to me...

Why anyone would take the time to become a Member on a Website and not post? I seem to recall in the dim recesses of my mind that maybe this was already covered but I'm just too tired to look it up, or haven't a clue where to start...

I'm sorry if I hurt "Members who don't post" feelings, but it bugs me...I will apologize if given an answer that will answer this question to my satisfaction...

Its a mystery to me as well. A few people have registered here simply in hopes that I would pimp their products/services/websites. I only do so if I believe in what I'm seeing and if the content is clean.

There are also a great number of people who are termed "lurkers". Lurkers simply return to the site simply to read the content but rarely, if ever, post.

The good news is that we have about 120 members, 30 of which are active, 25 of which are active somewhat regularily. Thats close to a 21% active: non-active member ratio which is amongst the highest of any website I've ever seen. The average website has between 2% - 5% active users.

Also, I member at several other websites and many of them celebrate when they reach the huge milestone of 1000 topics in their forums. This process can take anywhere between 2 - 5 years (or more) depending on the site. We broke 1000 posts ages ago (well within the first year) and are now at over 3000 topics total in our forums.

Yes we need to grow, expand, etc., but I can tell you that we have one of the most solid foundations of any new website I've ever seen. Add to this the fact that we started off and remain pretty much anonymous on the web and you start seeing the bigger picture. What happens when our Network reach extends beyond .5/1,000,000 people?

I can tell you that its quite likely the network will contain well over 10,000 total members within the next 5 years.
