I don't know if it's just me or what...but I find that people are so serious when they shop at Christmas with sort of a look of terror in their eyes..like they won't be finding the PERFECT Christmas gift! Where is all the Peaceful Joy that is supposed to be surrounding shopping for our loved ones? Have we missed the boat and forgotten that Christmas is the joy we feel and the gratitude for our family and friends? Have we lost the real Spirit of Christmas and what this day actually means?

With the many, many shoppers I saw yesterday, the only joyful person I saw was the young girl at the till that put me through! She told me her plan for her future and she was excited about it, it was wonderful to listen and be touched by her sharing!

I don't believe people know the true meaning anymore. It is all about how can I top last years gift or asking for the best most expensive things. There have been so many times I wish I would have started my kids out giving gifts or a helping hand to someone in need instead of buying them things. If nothing else they would have appreciated more what they did get.

I wish I'd done the same thing! Instead of buying things, just giving instead to someone who really needs it!

We have a competition each year at my Workplace which area could donate the most food for the Food Banks or Salvation Army! It is so wonderful to see all the food and how much people give!!

normally i am not a big shopper i like to get in and out of shops as quickly as i can - (unless im having a lazy day then i stp and talk to everyone)

however i can spend hours doing my christmas shopping! i walk around the towns highstreet and along the beach and the reasons i love christmas shopping are:

i love looking at all the decorations in the shop windows,

and i LOVE wishing people a merry christmas!

everyone seems so much friendlier at christmas - they all wish eachother a merry christmas and even natter to strangers about random gift ideas and help get the stuff off the top shelves etc -

i love hearing the christmas music in the shops and the carol singers int he supermarkets and in the town centre.

i love look at all the brightly coloured wrapping paper and cards and tinsel

i love choosing present for the people in my life and decided who should get what.

i love the smell of mince pies and christmas cake being cooked int he bakeries

i love watching the man with his little cart of turkey for sale going around the town

i love smell of pine in peoples houses

i love helping my mum get all the food and drinks for christmas, decorating the tree, and opening the cards that come through the letter box from the neighbors.
i love writing all my neighbors christmas cards

i love pretending that santa is real to the kids down my street and telling them to be good or they wont get any presents.

i love the floats that go around the streets in the evening with a sanata and a tree on board playing christmas music and giving out candy tot he children...

my list is endless! i think there is soooo much to appreciate at christmas, things that only really happen for christmas that you dont see the rest of the year. and the busy over crowded shops? - sure its a nightmare to get through - but tis worth it for all the things i love.

So I just got back from my trip to BC and it was soooooo much fun! There was no cell service, no tv, no internet...it was just great to get out there and away from everything. Between the 6 of us we finished off 72 beer, 2 26oz bottles of vodka, a 40oz bottle of captain morgans spiced rum and 4 bottles of wine. Cory and I also played a few games of hockey with everyone else that was at the cabins there. The hot tub and Sauna was also right fun.

And the rumors that were going around at work about me and the VPs daughter are no longer just rumors

Looks like we are going to be dating.

All in all, an awesome weekend and I can't wait to go back.
