Default In Valdosta

I am in Valdosta, Georgia for a tournament. I am not competing. I haven't learned my whole 4th degree form yet and didn't want to do 3rd degree form. I suck at 3rd degree even though I did it for over 4 years. I just wanted to come and help out. I will probably be judging which is fun until the parents get involved when their kid doesn't win. :?

This is the last tournament for this tournament host. He has been in our region for years and had a bad marital break-up and feels he needs a new beginning. I will miss him and his tournaments.

Anyway, I will be here until Sunday. Hope you are all doing okay. I will be checking for posts throughout the weekend.

Judging things sucks. Can't parents not be denied access until AFTER the tournament? Or some kind of video-system developed, so that the judges do not have to be in the proximity of the physical location of the tournament?

Or could you use the winner to show his skills are superior to the offending parents' kid? ((I know, you should not))

I don't understand why parents get involved anyway instead of just being there offering their support to their kids. Making a big deal about their child not winning just shows the child he/she's not good enough! How about just giving them a hug for just competing? ...I just don't understand some parents! :?

In some cases the kid can't handle the fact that they lost. Their parents have reinforced that they are only winners and losing isn't an option. The kids than get angry. Vicous cycle to say the least.

Like those kids have a chance in life to be themselves without growing up to feel they have to be the BEST and mow down anyone that stands in the way! Why do parents try to live their lives through their kids and make the kids do what the parents themselves didn't do? I JUST don't get it... :?
