DA, that term is used a lot up here, especially with guys. It never occurred to me that it could be interpreted as a sexual phrase, either.

Similar issues do exist in Dutch to with a few verbs and nouns.

The word for girlfriend is the same as the word for female friend, for instance. And something similar holds true for boyfriend. Which is probably very confusing to explain to people who try to learn the language.

So you could be perfectly spending the time with a female friend, who is not your girlfriend - but the words are exactly the same. No doubt a few relationships have been ruined, because of that.

US slang has that problem, i refer to femae friends as "my girls" or male friends as my boys....it only causes confusion when im like "my girl so and so did this"
