Telemarketers...
I'm pretty sure we had this topic come up before but I'm too lazy to look for it...so we re-start one!
How do you handle telemarketers? Do you have many calls?
I answered one by speaking total Russian and pretending I didn't understand a word of English. I realize it's a job for them and they must get mistreated a lot, but why do they ALWAYS call at suppertime or during a program that one is interested in?

Re: Telemarketers...
They are. Funny thing though:
All the stuff was for loans. Now in order to qualify for a loan:
1) I am supposed to be a SA citizen or have permanent residence status
2) I can get better loans in the Netherlands at about 20% of the cost.

Re: Telemarketers...
Over here it's mostly always asking for money for this or that!

Re: Telemarketers...
I have caller ID on my phone and if I don't recognize the number I don't answer it. If it is important then they will leave a message. If I know who it is after they start to talk I will pick up.

Re: Telemarketers...
Problem is a lot of "trustworthy" people change cell subscriptions every 2 months, or use "hidden numbers" as they use a work phone.

Re: Telemarketers...
But if it says unknown or unavailable or the number is not recognizable then don't answer it. If it is someone you know and they want to talk they will leave a message.

Re: Telemarketers...
Do you have problems with hangers-up? I don't have caller ID and the whole message goes through, and then they hang up.

Re: Telemarketers...
Since I don't answer unknown callers then I guess you could say so. Most don't leave messages. Family and friends do and that is who counts.

Re: Telemarketers...
Ya, but whenever I tend to get calls from people, it is a matter of urgency.

Re: Telemarketers...
Then as soon as they start to leave their message pick it up if you know them. Or just suffer and answer all calls and keep hanging up. I don't have a problem with that. I do that at work when magazine companies call me asking me to subscribe. I don't have caller ID there.
