Speaking of Seagulls
At Isis' school, most of the kids eat in the open courtyard (it's only a block from the beach....usually breezy and nice)...but the SEAGULLS are a pain. Still, some kids feed the birds bread and fries....so they hang out there.
Yesterday, one kid picked up a rock and hurled it at one of the birds. I don't like them either....but hurting them is illegal. Isis said it made a screeching sounds, tried to peck at it's wing which was misshapen, then rolled all over the concrete until it died. Apparently, the rock broke the wing or worse. The principal came out and put a box over the bird. The boy who did it was arrested....he'll probably get more time than if he threw a bag of cocaine to another kid....we have those 'protected bird' laws.
That's my story of the day....thus far.....

you're right; he probably will get more time then if he hurt a child or pushed drugs.
I don't like those birds either but there really was no reason to hurt the bird like that. Poor thing must have suffered.

I agree that they are a nuissance but the reason they started to hang around like that is because people feed them. If people would stop feeding the darn things then they would go elsewhere.
I, myself, couldn't kill an animal.

Sometimes I wonder what goes on in peoples heads. If you don't want a pest to return, why the hell would you ever feed it? We actaully have a park out here in Richmond that has signs that say "do not feed the rats". What kind of idiot would actually feed a rat?

I can't even imagine being a building manager because of all the "riffraff" that a lot of apartment buildings attract.

I've seen my share of riffraff and I did get rid of a lot of them when I took over the management and replaced them with good people. By the time we left, I'd say 90% of the tenants were awesome.
I did love my job. The only part of it I hated was having to live in the building. If I could live here, go there from 9 am to 5 pm, it would be the perfect job for me.

As far as the seagull situation...the kid got suspended from school. I'm not sure if there will be charges....but I imagine there will be since you aren't supposed to hurt or kill seagulls. Why do the kids feed them? Because they are kids. On the base...it's posted NOT to feed them. We weren't even allowed to have straws in cups on the piers due to it being a hazard to the seagulls.

It's just a fricken sh173 hawk for crying out loud, what is our legal system coming to. Over punish a kid for doing the rest of us a favor, but give his neighbor, the drug pusher who carries a conceiled weapon a slap on the wrist.

You know that our justice system (or lack thereof) is to blame for our society going to hell. It's not music lyrics, or movies or the internet, it's the idiots with the long robes and monotoned voices that can't make a decision for less than several hundred thousand of the tax payers hard earned dollars. Even then, the decision is usually wrong.

them and the government for putting the idiotic lack of moral laws in place to begin with. The moral value in our society is pathetic.
