Retirement Plan
(This was from Stone who sent it to me in email......HAD to share!)
If you had purchased $1000.00 of Nextel stock one year ago, it would now be
worth $49.00.
With Enron, you would have had $16.50 left of the original $1,000.00.
With WorldCom, you would have had less than $5.00 left.
But, if you had purchased $1,000.00 worth of beer one year ago, drank all the
beer, then turned in the cans for the aluminum recycling REFUND, you would have
had $214.00.
Based on the above, the best current investment advice is to drink heavily and
recycle.
It's called the 401-Keg Plan.

I can't believe the Nextel figure, how can they be worth that little when they co-sponsor Nascar?

Duke in answer to your question: Bad European marketing. It is seemingly impossible to get any NASCAR broadcasted on TV over here. And we are talking about a big European market ...

They do the same thing here. We have a SPEED channel dedicated to racing, motorsports, etc., yet they black out Nascar for some stupid reason. I say stupid because I can see it on CBS Sports and another channel except on the network dedicated to racing

Networks buy exclusive rights because it is a lot of money in advertsing revenue.

I understand that but they also make an assumption that everyone knows of them as an exclusive channel for that sport/event. The problem is that if you live on the other side of the country or another country entirely, you have no idea who's televising what. I can guarantee you that it's a loss of potential revenue.
The same problem goes for tennis, I love the game and would watch it all the time but try finding a network that televises the major events regularily, epecially in Canada.

Over here, it is not hard to view the major tennis tournaments in detail. Because tennis is quite popular in Europe. Most of it is on Eurosport, and some of the Grand slams which have exclusive rights, are on other Dutch channels. And of course on Belgian TV (women's tennis!).
The only thing we get here is close to 5 minutes of summary of each and every NASCAR race. That is useless.

Ya you guys have great tennis coverage. I believe you also get great Tour De France and WRC Rally Racing as well. I wish that stuff was televised better here.

WRC is really indepth over here. Tour de France is insane. It is on Dutch Television, Belgian Television, and Eurosport. As much coverage as you can get. And virtually all major cycling countries, have coverage too. France, Germany, Italy, Spain. So the same thing is broadcasted on many channels, with language-dependent (if that, it is not the case with the Belgian and Dutch coverage) commentary.
Football (soccer) is even worse. Especially if there are European Championships or World Cups. Then you can literally see the same game on 5 different channels, even if you only have 24 channels on cable.
