Passwords not to use
Most Common Passwords
Mon Apr 30, 2007 11:58PM EDT
There are many articles on Yahoo! Tech regarding password security, but no matter what advice we get or receive, we're all most likely to choose a password we can remember. Unfortunately, cyberthieves know this weakness all too well, and try to hack into accounts just by using the most common passwords online first.
Do you use any of these? - password
- 123456
- qwerty
- abc123
- letmein
- monkey
- myspace 1
- password 1
- blink182
- (your first name)

Re: Passwords not to use
My passwords all mean something to me but there alphanumeric with caps as well and rate in the security scale.
For anything site related, my passwords are so confusing that I have to copy and paste them from an archive file buried deep in my rig. There is a system to all these passwords but guessing it is virtually impossible.

Re: Passwords not to use
I wish I could be that creative but I am not. It sucks that at work I have to change about 3 passwords about every 6 months.

Re: Passwords not to use
The best thing you can do is use your password combined with a Captcha Security Image.

Okay, I will show my ignorance. What is a Captcha Security Image? It doesn't sound like anything I can use at work.

It's actually the security image you have to enter in order to login to the forums here

Re: Passwords not to use
Well, that definitely won't work at work. I just need to figure out 12 new passwords and repeat them.

Re: Passwords not to use
Just use the same password 12 times with a different number at the end for example:
tkdladyBADmemory1
tkdladyBADmemory2
tkdladyBADmemory3
tkdladyBADmemory4
tkdladyBADmemory5
tkdladyBADmemory6
tkdladyBADmemory7
tkdladyBADmemory8
tkdladyBADmemory9
tkdladyBADmemory10
tkdladyBADmemory11
tkdladyBADmemory12

Re: Passwords not to use
Thanks! You are a riot. The sad thing is, it is true. My memory sucks. Maybe I will have to try those. Wonder what the IT Nazis will think of those?

Well, there alphanumeric and mix caps with lowercase so they shouldn't pose a security risk at all.
