Default Nightshift rules

Tomorrow is Friday for me (4 day week) because of the 10 hour shifts. I may work Friday just to get some extra hourse and the best part is that I'll actually be paid overtime for once, w00t.

I have no idea why I waited so damn long to do this :?

I love 10 hour work shifts. Since you are already there....you may as well put in the extra 2 hours a day to get a whole extra day off. I'm glad you are liking it Duke....you sound much happier.

10 hour shifts are the best ones to have. Sounds like you're really happy being back to that as your job. I'm really happy for you.

Hubby works anywhere from 11.5 to 15 hour shifts a day. now that he's been promoted to foreman, he has to work 6 to 7 days a week. we're not complaining because the money's very good but he is so tired when he gets home from work. he has his shower, eats and then we have about 1 to 2 hours of family time before he crashes. He also loves his job which makes it good for him. he's happy now too. when he's happy, we're all happy.

What will you do with all the extra time off?

Wow Star...those are some LONG hours he's working...in addition to very few days off. Men seem to handle it very well though. They prefer the extra money to the extra time off. I used to be like that to some extent....but it was harder because I had the kids at home.

he used to put in 16 hour days when we had our own construction business. We hardly seen eachother at all.

He's always been a work-a-holic. I havne't known any different from him. He will take a day off when he feels burned out and that's when I usually drag him out all over the place. LOL! I told him the other day that we are taking a vacation this summer. I'd love to go out west! rent a camper and just go as far out west as we want to. He has relatives living all the way to BC. I'd love for him to be able to take 2 weeks off but i don't think that'll ever happen. it'll only be 1 week and that doesn't seem like enough time to go all the way to BC and back and enjoy it. But, I'd love to take that trip!

I'll prolly put it into overtime when possible and the rest of the time will be put toward more creative endeavors such as drawing, website building/maintenance, finishing my model USS Constitution (been building off and on for 10 years, seen below), and likely do more golfing.

I'm also very much into video game movie making and have one quick video that I'll hopefully release in the next month with two more detailed and historically accurate movies due out by the end of the year.

The top pics are the only one's I can find that represent how it will look in full sail (the way I'll be building it) but my model isn't that large. I think overall dimensions put it at 4' long by 4' high. The lower pics give you an idea of the rigging nightmare.

I was also given a smaller version of this ship and I have huge plans for it. I wan't to put the smaller version in a fishtank (already figured out how to make realistic, colored water without using water) only this ship is being pulled beneath the waves by a giant squid. I'll light the whole thing with fiber optics.

I'm building these things so I can leave something behind when I pass on along with my drawings. I hope my websites also are something that will pass on, who knows.

Thanks for asking

wow duke! doing that ship building thing really needs a person with patience. I could never build anything like that, not patient enough. that's a lot of tedious work involved! You are talented!

I think so far I have close to 200 hours into the ship. I have it water tight (tested), I have the steering working (tested in tub), all the decks, cannons, and deck rigging is done. I now have to finish off painting the masts, rigging them, and then adding the sails and painting the men. I think I have another 100 hours to go, maybe a bit more.

I had a setback early on because my girlfriends cat got at the ship and did minor damage to some of the deck rigging but it was very difficult and time consuming to fix.

I didn't know you did that Duke. I collect ships and have 6 which are that particular style....and then some in other styles. I also have some wonderful pictures of ships. They are so beautiful!!!

I'm not sure I could build one out of a model though. That's alot of work!!

Ya it's a tremendous amount of work, believe me I had no idea what I was stepping into when I bought it. I've always been a very artsy person and have lots of ideas. I even have a few originals that I'd like to oil paint but I need a model for both of them.

lol, I didn't but I wish I could. The simple fact is it's not done yet due to my lack of motivation.
