are you serious DA?!? 8O

how old are you? 21? OMG! since when does a 21 year old need parents as chaperones? What do they think you do when you're in NY at college? Twiddle your thumbs and go to cake and ice cream parties with pin the tail on the donkey game run by parents? I'm shocked!! :?

they gave me a talk about how me and her are both adults and to be safe...ie use condoms...which was both embarassing and depressing, because i doubt very much that anything will happen even if i want it to. So now that triggered a little depressive wave, after a week of being somewhat ok. My parents also got mad at me for having beer when they were gone, because i forgot to throw away one can. I was gonna rebel and go to the bar after work, just to spite them, but i didnt.

My parents do treat me like a kid, i cant go anywhere without telling them, i cant even use the internet without asking. This is why i hate being home and i got a job that i work 70 hours a week, i dont want to be in my house at all.

argh, im so frustrated now.

It takes awhile for some parents to accept the fact that one of their children are now an adult. I lived with my parents a short time with my oldest son, he must've been around 2 and I was your age. They STILL told me what time they expected me home! I was laughable.....but I considered that while I lived under their roof....I had to play the game. I didn't live there very long!

that would've never worked with me and my parents knew it.

I won't be that way with my kids. When they hit 20, not too many house rules left to abide by. I certainly wouldn't expect them to have chaperones wherever they go. that's just so unrealistic. If they're legal to drink, then nothing I can do to stop that either.

As a parent, there comes a time when you have no choice but to let go and let them live their lives.

My parents stopped telling me what to do before I was 20. They started to treat me like an adult when I was about 18, 19. They knew that telling me what to do so they went with the flow and I'm glad they did. That showed me some kind of respect and trust. That's when I started to respect my parents a little more.

My parents still ask me where I am going, and who I am going out with but only when they babysit Noah but it is only for "Safty precausions" so they know how to get ahold of me while they are watching him.

DA I think you need to say something to your mom and dad, tell them that you appreicate the fact that they care so much but you are an adult now and you need them to respect that

I agree da, you're 21, time for mommy and daddy to let go, it's only going to hurt more in the long run for both of you.
