My main PC is fried
It appears I've lost my main PC to a failure somewhere within the motherboard which means I no longer have a home computer. I'm typing this message on my back up PC at home but surfing the net, making graphics and some web-level changes is all I can muster on this PC since it's so old.
I figure it will take me close to 1-month (possibly 6 weeks) before I can afford a new mobo/cpu to get my main rig back online.

That sucks . Is it really terminal, or can you fiddle around with it, to make it work (depends on the part that is causing the problem).

Re:
Ya, sadly I think that's the end of it. I have no system stability which means the computer can re-boot itself at any time. The longest I've managed to keep it up and running is 10 minutes but it usually lasts only half that long. Since I'm a gamer, graphic designer, movie maker, etc., I rely on graphic intense applications continually so a stable PC is a must or all my work is gone.

Yes, I understand. If the damage is only to the circuitry leading up to an USB-port or something like that, you could have still used a bit. Too bad that is not an option, even if it were to do a small thing...
Have you already determined what the exact problem is? Did you find a black patch on your motherboard?

Re:
That of course assumes I don't try and pick up an older mobo that uses RDRAM. Right now I'm not in the financial position to pick up a Core2 Duo and move to DDR along with SATA drives and PCIE cards. I've way too much money invested in AGP and IDE to start over, regardless of how much sense it makes.
This time around, I'm making the correct decision based off of dollar values and a future plan. I can likely replace my mobo now for next to nothing but moving to a decent Core 2 (likely extremem) w/ 1 GB FSB will cost me an arm and a leg and I'm nowhere near financially stable enough to make the move.
If I can secure something along the lines of an 850E w/800 Mhz FSB at around a 3.2 - 3.4, I'll be happier than a pig in sh1te.

Sorry to hear your main PC is down. I wish I knew a way to help you out. Good luck on getting a new one or fixing up the old one.

I know, I've checked as well. I have one or two other avenues to investigate but it may look like I'll have to settle for an interim rig of 3.4 - 3.6 P4 w/DDR2, possibly w/Hyperthreading. I can likely exchange my video card for PCIE but I simply cannot replace IDE at this point.
