Merry topic
IS it me, or most people around are still licking wounds after last year?
LEt's change the beat a little and share the funniest best thing that happened to you lately - today, yesterday, last couple of days.... last year .
Me: I have a paper to turn in and I am far for finished... but looking forward to this week end: Saturday I'll meet one of my bf's best friend and Sunday I'm invited to his house for a gallete de rois - they're celebrating the Epiphany around here all January. MAybe I'll catch a movie Friday with one of my friends, Camilo.
What else: I'm generally in a good mood, although I shouldn't (like fighting off my extra pounds, drinking lots of water, running all day to the bathroom), but I decided not to let it spoil my fun. School should have started today, but I took the day to myself. It took courage, lool!!!
I'm ok. And that's something I learnt to do alone these past few time .

This past year HAS been kinda BLAH for sure! Most of the time my life is much more exciting and fun....but I was sick during the better portion of the year, not working, not partying. The hurricanes were brutal and I live on the ocean, my youngest son got in big time trouble, my daughter moved out for a short while with her Dad, I almost went broke and my lovelife SUCKED big time. AARRGG!!!
I guess the high light of the year was when the USS Kennedy Battleship group left for the war and I knew that I had played a big part in making that happen during the rebuilding of the Kennedy last year and the other ships I worked on. And, ofcourse, Bush being re-elected.
This year will be great though. I'm feeling much better. I have a healthy settlement coming my way which will enable us to buy a great house for our family, I have my first grandchild to be born this year and Meanon will probably get to visit from the UK. I'm looking forward to all of it.

Licking wounds from last year? Not to my knowledge.
However, I suppose I'll tell a "chicken soup for the soul" story, although I doubt it will surpass the level of interest Twinkle may generate through her increased frequency of urination.
Every night before her bedtime my 2 year old daughter must join me in our shaving ritual. I place her on the counter next to the sink (at eye level), deposit some shaving cream into one hand, then she reminds me that she must have shaving cream on her, "nose, chin, face and other one (both cheeks)."
After I put a little dabs around her mouth and nose, she mimicks the stroking motion of the razor in the mirror, complete with facial contortions, and then reminds me that I must brush my teeth. Afterward, I clean up her face, and then she leaps off the counter, into my arms to go "round and round" (we spin around about a dozen times in sort of a celebration dance, presumably in celebration of having survived another bloodless session with the razor?).
After the dance, she stumbles dizzily away, only to return for a goodnight kiss.
Thus, each and every day ends for Samson.

Awwww....that's so sweet Samson. I forgot you had one so young. Aren't they just wonderful at that age? I wish they would stay young longer.....I SO enjoyed my children then.

I love kids. Hopefully I'll be able to raise them up right too.
I remember I was fascinated with my dad's shaving also. I was looking at him from the door and at all the "faces" he'd make... It seemed like lots of fun!
My dad would read me lots of stories when I was a little girl and would inevitably fall asleep in the middle of one. I remember once I was riding on his stomach and keeping his pyjamas real tight on my hands, to be sure he won't be falling asleep before finishing my story!!! Then I'd hurry up and sleep with mom. He was really hurt by this, I think!
What about something nice that happened to you, Sam? Not involving your kids?

It's hard to describe the incredible level of happiness our students have on the final day of school. It is almost palitable in the air, and infectious, filling all within vicenity of the building with joy few adults know.
Of course, our own degree of relief and satisfaction to have an entire summer off might have something to do with our feelings on this day.

Last year ended pretty badly for me and the wounds run pretty deep so it'll be a while before I'm my old self.
The funniest thing that happened to me so far was my daughter tried to play shrink and wrote down my problems, gave me a cas file, suggested a cure and submitted a bill.

Last year was horrid at times but there was still so much fun, laughter and friendship. My girls are a joy. This year will be the same, bad in bits but wonderful too.
