One way ticket from insanity to South Africa. What remains is what I need to bribe a few SA officials, so I can stay there permanently.

You feel like that because you are still a young man. Trust me...eventually you will be responsible for your family, bills and so many unexpected problems...that whatever ANY government does or doesn't do will be pale in comparison.

Just wondering....why can't you get a long term visitor visa/pass in SA? I thought they were pretty open on immigration policy.

No. I would need to get at least a Bachelor or Masters. Or a job - which is hard, in a country were unemployment is about 35%.

It would even be hard to marry my gf at this point in time, due to the fact that we have not been together for 3(!) years. It is all a game of can we get a set of passports that are allowed to be wed without all kind of legal interference.

You have to be together 3 years to get married in what country? Also...couldn't you LIE!

That will be hard. Can anyone tamper with photographs to such an extent that they will appear to span a period of 3 years together?

South Africa, marriage according to SA laws.
Over here, things are a bit simpler provided the two of you have "good" nationalities. South Africa does not qualify as one of those.

That's one of the strangest things I've ever heard?? What kind of LAW is that?? Why don't you just marry in the US and get yourself a Greencard. That's pretty simple and you don't have to prove anything. Then you can travel as husband and wife anywhere you want to.

Yep. But that is what is happening if you have a third-world nationality. If she were to marry me as a US citizen (here in the Netherworld), it would still be an issue, but only formally. Have to check it out though, because:

The Dutch government has added a nice little clause in marriage laws, that may require that the Dutch partner (me) earns at least 130% of minimum wage. As I am a student, my salary is $0. So as a South African citizen that would be a legal issue, I cannot easily overcome. Don't know whether it applies to marrying an US citizen, though.

So if people wonder, where the anti-bureaucratic element in some of my posts originates from, there is your answer.

1500 Euros... not bad!

However, at the moment, my problem isn't money as much as time. I'd kill to have 3 weeks of vacation. Unfortunatel, even one week of vacation is an unreachable dream, for the time being..

If I had 1500 E, ideally I'd buy a trip to Mexico or another spiritual place, where I can relax, make trips and enjoy the scenery in a really slow motion. All alone.

But realistically, as I hope to be moving out, I'd simply be re-furnishing my room, and saving the rest, hahaha! Oh well, I don't have time for a vacation anyway

If I had the money, I'd love to pick a central location and fly all the active Lifesupporters Members in for a weekend party.
