I disagree with the baking soda thing....but some of these were really interesting.

Anyone have any kitchen/household hints?

I know if you've been cutting an onion up, if you wash your hands with soap and a stainless steel spoon in your hands.....the smell will be gone. Also...if you make ice coffee and are pouring the coffee into the glass full of ice....a stainless steel spoon in the glass keeps the glass from cracking.

that was interesting. i seen a couple of things in there that I did believe to be true that weren't.

to cut up an an onion without it irritating your eyes, cut it under the cold water tap or in a bowl of cold water. Works everytime, no more onion tears.

If you remove the core of the lettuce head out, the lettuce will last a little longer then it would if you left it in there. Bang the lettuce head on a hard surface (core down) then pull the core out. comes out in one piece.

Keep your fresh mushrooms in a paper bag away from any light. they'll stay fresh and last longer. Mushrooms need to stay in the dark.

To have the odors from an onion not make your eyes water:
Suck it in, shut up and keep cutting.

I get tears in my eyes if I'm forced to hate Onions, I hate them more than poison.

It is....that's why they now put it in tinted plastic or cartons....instead of glass or clear plastic.
