Default Job Interview today

So I had my job interview with Cingular Wireless today, I found out I was in the completely wrong retail job when I heard the pay. I'll be making about $35 a month less here working 20 hours, than I would be working 40 hours at circuit city.

Though I should find out if I have a paying job sometime late next week. I've never been through such a time consuming hiring process before. Multiple background checks, signatures from several different people, it's all a bit tedious when you just wanna know if you have a job.

Trust me...those cell phone companies just SUCK! They don't tell you when you purchase the phone that on the back few pages of the pamphlet that comes with the phone telling you how it works....in four languages....that the last couple of pages is your contract. You never read it or sign it.....but when you accept the box the phone comes in....your signed up. That's just wrong.

I didn't mind collecting bills for them until I realized they just LIED and MISLEAD people on purpose.

Don't worry about the background checks. That's mainly to check if you've ever had any embezzlement charges. If you deal with people's ACH info (check routing /numbers) or Credit Cards.....companies have to do what they can to protect their customers from the people who have access to their private info. It's more of a smoke screen legally/insurance wise.....than it is a reality factor.

I don't know which companies you've collected for, but anytime I've ever dealt with a cellphone company I had to sign a contract or listen to a long explanation over the phone which I couldn't agree to until it was done. Then there was also a 30 day return period in which you could void the contract as well.

I posted this in the wrong section as well, so could somebody move this to Jobs/Career

Nah....you can post it wherever you want. Duke isn't strict on that stuff.

Actually , the legal 'remorse' period for a cell phone is 14 days. They may tell you something different from the individual phone franchise
companies...but at the end of the day....the only contract the main company will honor is their own.

Once they send it to collections....they won't even talk to you. If you dispute an etf (early termination fee) or anything else....they don't care. You have to settle it with the colleciton agency and ONLY THEN can you come to them with a WRITTEN claim and story. After that...they have 45 days to respond if they agree with you or you can screw off.

It's the franchise companies who end up lying,.....but I'm not sure that they know they are doing so. This is what got Nextel in so much trouble.
