Internship
Im not sure where this thread goes exactly. Tomorrow i have an interview for an internship that i should have no problem getting. But my problem is that it will be a real hassle to stay in the city over the summer, i missed the deadline to live in dorms so i would have to go beg them, and even if i got housing i have to leave for 5 days while they paint the building and i have nowhere to put my stuff, i want my dad to pick me up, have me go home until june when the internship starts and then drive back, my parents want me to stay with my uncle...i dont trust my family right now because they are all mad at my dad for not going to my grandfather's funeral, and i could see them screwing me over and leaving me on the street for a few hours or days.
So im torn between accepting the internship and just going home and trying to get a job.

Do you have some friends or something you could bunk with until the painting was completed? Even though, I doubt your extended family would be mean to you just because they are upset with your Dad.

Are there any new factors in the equation or are you still trying to make a decision on this one?

im going home for sure now, the internship is a crappy job anyway, i thought it would be desk work, but its door to door telling people to vote for the mayor's reelection. 10 hours a day in the summer heat...and the fact that i might not be able to get housing. Then i have two interviews for advertising jobs in oklahoma, so no point in me staying here.

It's bad when they have to hire a staff of people to go door to door to be reelected these days. More than anything, I would consider it unsafe to do the door to door thing....but it would be a great way to meet alot of people. Like you said though....housing is an issue.
When would you be leaving to head to OK?

yeah it probably is unsafe to go door to door in a democratic city in the outer boroughs. I will be leaving the morning of the 11th. So i wont be posting until the 15th or 16th probably.

Going door to door sux, I had to do it for a few months back in the day and everyone hates you before you even have a chance to mutter your first sentence fragment.

The only time people seem to welcome you to their door is if there's been a big snowstorm and your carrying a shovel.

I'm one of those people with door to door people that come to my door. I do it to the jahova witnesses. they don't get a chance to say hello i tell them i'm not interested and close the door. same thing goes with survey people. If it's a little kid selling something I'm not like that with them. i'll buy whatever they're selling.
I hate telephone soliciting and door to door crap. I would never do those jobs because i wouldn't want to do to people the things that i hate people doing to me.
we'll miss you DA while you're gone.
