Image galleries online
There are currently 3 options available to all registered and active members. Please do not register or start uploading the images until such time as I can configure the galleries properly.
1) Coppermine Photo Gallery
2) 4 Images Gallery
3) Gallery Removed because it sux.
All of the above are online but are not ready for testing at this time as none are configured. I'll need a few days to get them ready for you all to test and put through the paces. I'd appreciate if any of you run into any kind of problems from images slow to load, error pages, rejected uploads, poor or difficult browsing, etc., to please let me know.
I should have all of the galleries up and running for member testing by early next week.
Also, members interested in beta (bug) testing the galleries please register your interest by posting here. Also, could you please give me an idea of what kind of photo albums you want such as:
- Duke: Family Album, Art Album, Misc. Album.
Your albums can be as creative as you like.
Thanks,
Ken
BTW, after testing these galleries for the course of a few weeks, we'll have a member decided vote on which on to stick with. Also, these galleries will be linking to all current and future sites in the Lifesupporters.com Network.

I wish Serverfly had provided you with the latest release of Gallery as v.1 here isn't half as cool as the v.2 we setup here. Not that I'm complaining or anything, I'm just stating my preference.
Looking forward to giving them all a try!

I haven't finished with them yet, close but not done. So far I can tell you that 4 images seems to be the best because the others are buggy as hell for some reason.
You can all register at the 4images gallery but please hold off on the uploads for a day or so, I don't have the permissions worked out properly yet.
Thanks,
Ken

I removed gallery as one of the options because it really sux. If you all like, you can register with the 4 image gallery site and start messing around a bit. It's not fully configured yet but you get the general idea.
It's imperative that images go in the appropriate folder if you do manage to get files uploaded. You'll need to create your own personal album and make it a subcategory of the appropriate site.
For example:
- Fragtard Image Gallery.
- Hobby -Universe Image Gallery.
- Lifesupporters.com Image Gallery.
There are still a lot of changes that will be made including but not limited to:
- layout
- template color
- template images
- photo album thumbnails
- file extensions
- upload/download quotas
- permissions
Thanks for your patience, I wish I could have had this running sooner.
Ken

OK, the 4 images gallery is fully functional. The only people who have access to upload files are registered members so you must register here prior to uploading files. Guests are not permitted to upload files but are allowed to comment and view images. If the comments get out of hand then I'll make this a registered member only feature as well.
Before uploading files, please let me know that you're interested in having a personal gallery. Currently, there is no user access to create subfolders in categories so it must be done by an admin. Please post here that you want a personal gallery or Private Message me and I'll set up your album asap.
Lastly, this is a feature thats only available to members who participate in our forums. I'll come up with a minimum post count, but for now you won't be able to have your own gallery unless you have a minimum of 250 posts in our forums (this number is up for debate, so please feel free to challenge it here). I know this sounds like I'm being a hardass but there is a good reason for it. If I were to offer just anyone a free photo gallery, everyone would take it, upload as much as possible, and use up our diskspace and bandwidth leaving little room for those who are active here. As the uploads increase, so does the size of the database, bandwidth requirements and my costs.
I have no problem providing all I can to our fantastic members here because they are what give this site the life it has. If you want free webspace and no commitment to a site and/or forum, there's always netscape or 250 free.
If anyone has comments regarding the above, please feel free to post here, contact me via PM or e-mail me at sirapnek@shaw.ca.
Sincerely,
Ken

And for anyone who doesn't want to READ all that:
We have a photo album area for active members.
If you aren't an active member.....we don't want to look at your pics anyway.

k give me an album please. I appreciate that we have to approve the pics before they are shown in the galleries but it is a pain in the butt, but that's the price we have to pay for security.

Admin approving uploads is a temporary measure only. I'll be creating other usergroups and moving members into the groups who want access to approve their own uploads. The only reason it's like that for now is because I don't have the gallery configured the way I want it yet and don't want to spend a lot of time re-organinzing pictures if I don't have to.
