Well since I moved back in with the 'rents I've sort of become a financial burden. It'll change pretty soon, but still, it's there.
My dad retired (50ishk/yr) last year after working 35yrs (@ 80ishk/yr) with the RCMP and they moved to Windsor. Got a place in their price range and it was all good. They were out of debt and now they are sinking back in. My mom hasn't worked since I was born so it's not like she can just jump in the workforce.
Anyways, my dad got in touch with an old RCMP friend and they went out for coffee. He just came back and was offered a job. $30/hr full time investigation work. He gets to write everything off and gets a new van. He's pretty excited about it and my mom is extatic about it. I'm happy for them, now I don't feel so bad.
Now they will finally be able to afford to go on a honeymoon after 24 years!
Thats good for your dad, hopefully he doesn't have to work for too long though because I'm sure it would be nice to actually retire one day and stay retired.
The Investigation work sounds exciting; he could write a book on his investigative work and live a life of luxury; maybe Weiser you could help him write it, and you both can be rich...
I love reading books like that!!!
My dad could start his own investigation company and make millions within a few years, he just doesn't want to....This is where him and I differ. I would do it, he just doesn't care hehe. As for the book...I doubt that will happen. He's only doing this cause money is tight.
If he wants to post any interesting articles I'd be more than happy to put them on the main page here with whatever credit he would like. I think it would be very interesting indeed.
From what I gathered it's mostly fraud cases he will be working on. Nothing too interesting for a family site I think. I mean I could ask him if he wants to post anything. Maybe something on personal safety (how to protect against ID theft, etc). He did that for a LONG time.
