I know it's now History about O.J. Simpson, but....
do you think he was guilty or innocent?
My husband and I were talking at breakfast this morning about the upcoming Pickton trial that is supposed to take about a year, and the subject of O.J. came up. Just want to know what you all thought at the time....

Never thought about the OJ case. I am not a big believer in "Justice" at all.
Example in the Netherlands:
Claiming that Muslims may not speak out in a derogatory fashion against Christian, good according to politicians here. Which they promptly turn into law.
Claiming that Christians may not speak in a derogatory fashion against Muslims, bad. Everyone is allowed to speak what they think. Which is law 8O.
There is no equality in that department, so I have little reason to suspect that law and its application is unbiased in any other case either.

I thought he was guilty as sin and was sick that they made it such front page news for so long. I think if it wouldn't have been such a media boondogle then he would have been convicted. He was guilty and got away with it. :x

Research has been done about cases like this. It is not the legal outcome of the case the creates the perception of whether someone is innocent. But the perception of innocent / guilt in the first few minutes, when hearing of the case.

By Katie Couric
Dateline NBC
Updated: 8:15 a.m. PT June 18, 2004
http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/5137198/
Couric: âWe're out of time. But in closing, how would you like to be remembered?
Simpson: âI think anybody who's met me, know my personality. Just even around here, when we're not filming. And I like to think I'm a good guy. I treated everybody the way I wanted to be treated. And I gave what I got. You know, I think I'm a good father.
âYou know, I think I'm an up-spirited guy. And despite what I've gone through, I've survived. And I've been able to stay positive, and keep my humor, and I think most people who would describe me, who's around me today, would say that they -- the one who've known me before this would say he's the same guy. And the one that knows me now would say, âHey, he's an up-spirited, positive guy.ââ

very interesting interview even though it's over two years old. If anyone takes the time to read it all, I would be very interested in having a discussion over it....

I don't care what he says, he is guilty.

Re:
I tried to base my feelings on his guilt off the facts presented, not what the popular opinion was. Quite honestly, I wanted to believe in his innocence from the beginning because he did a fantastic job playing Officer Nordburg <sp> in the Naked Gun (one of my all time favorite movies). Unfortunately, the case dragged on forever and the way it was presented (in the media at least) left little room for doubt that he was guilty.

Could be. But a case like O.J.'s also presents a major issue. Jury selection may become next to impossible this way, because of all the media attention.

If he was like Officer Nordberg, he wouldn't have gotten into SO much trouble!
